Yeah I was being nice to Cotta against Mosley I had it 115-113 for Mosley. And :good on the Judah points as well. Also according to Paulie he was kneed by Cotto countless times in their match.

Vargas was ruined by Trinidad's illegal wraps
    Mayorga neverwas
    PAC whupped him
    Quartey got robbed
    Mosley beat him twice
Chavez was 56 before they fought
Hopkins carried him till he koed him
    Floyd beat him
Whitaker beat him w a jab alone in his prime.
He outboxed Trinidad over the first 8 rounds and gassed , straight running the last 4-5 rounds.

will turn around and say Mayweather is one of the best even though Mayweather has yet to fight an elite fighter in their prime.

I don't think he's overrated at all. He was a very good fighter, maybe even great, but he'll always be remembered as the guy who came up short when he was on the biggest of stages.

His biggest fights were probably against Hopkins, Tito, FLoyd and Shane. Pea was probably a little past it at the point they met up, but even that fight was very competitive.

His resume is littered with a lot of great fighters, so even though he may have fallen short on a few of his biggest matches, he did take on all comers.

Sure fire HOF'er, no doubt about it, but he falls short IMO of being considered an ATG.

For me he's a bit overrated. I think that he isn't as great as most people think he is.

Probably not overrated because most people acknowledge he usually fell short in his biggest fights but they appreciate his willingness to fight anyone throughout his career.

I disagree with you. You actually have some of the other side's argument right in your post. Let's look at Oscar DeLaHoya's record-

    39-6 (30) overall and 25-5 (18Knockouts) in World Title Fights. He won world titles at 130, 135, 140, 147, 154, and 160.

He fought decent fighters very early in his career and quickly won a world title. In his 5th pro fight he beat Jeff Mayweather (KO4) who was 23-2-2. In his 8th pro fight he stopped former world champ Troy Dorsey in the 1st round. In his 12th pro fight he beat Jimmi Bredahl for the WBO 130 Lb. world title, KO10.

    He clearly beat-

    LW-
    Jorge Paez KO2
    John John Molina W12
    Rafael Ruelas KO2
    Genero Hernandez KO6
    Jesse James Leija KO2

    JWW-
    Darryl Tyson KO2
    Julio Cesar Chavez KO4
    Miguel Angel Gonzalez W12

    WW-
    David Kamau KO2
    Hector Camacho W12
    Wilfredo Rivera KO8
    Julio Cesar Chavez KO8
    Oba Carr KO11
    Derrell Coley KO7
    Arturo Gatti KO5

    JMW-
    Javier Castillejo W12
    Fernando Vargas KO11
    Luis Ramon Campas KO7
    Ricardo Mayorga KO6
    Steve Forbes W12

....and others, no disputing who won these fights. I actually heard someone say Molina should have won, that's nonsense!

Let's look at some of the close or disputed wins... but understand that we will look at the close and disputed losses as well.

W12 Whitaker 1997 (WW) between Oscar's wins over Gonzalez and Kamau. Whitaker was well prepared and rose to the occasion despite being toward the end of his career, he really fought the best fight he could have fought. Oscar was still learning and did not fight the best fight he could have fought. The fight was close and a case can be made that Whitaker pulled it off but I wouldn't call it a robbery.

WSD12 Quartey 1999 (WW) between Oscar's second win over Chavez and his win over Carr. I thought DeLaHoya clearly won. The fight was close but Oscar did more damage and controlled more of the fight than Quartey.

W12 Felix Sturm 2004 (160) between Oscar's second loss to Mosley (we will come back to that) and his loss to Bernard Hopkins. It was a close fight but I felt that Sturm deserved it. Let's face it, the fight with Hopkins was going to be huge and unless Oscar got knocked out he was winning this.

LMD12 Felix Trinidad 1999 (WW) between Oscar's wins over Carr and Coley. Oscar clearly won this fight. Yes, he gave away the last few rounds but he still won 8 or 9 rounds. One of the worst decisions ever.

LSD12 Shane Mosley 2000 (WW) between Oscar's wins over Coley and Gatti. The fight was close. Oscar gave away some rounds by walking thru Mosley's punches but eventually those punches slowed him down and Mosley did enough for the win. I scored it 115-114 for Mosley, good fight.

L12 Shane Mosley 2003 (JMW) between Oscar's wins over Campas and Sturm. I thought Oscar won by two points. Good fight, close fight... but Oscar deserved the win over a juiced Mosley.

LSD12 Floyd Mayweather 2007 (JMW) between Oscar's win over Mayorga a year earlier and his win over Forbes a year later. The fight was close and a case can be made that Oscar won... very impressive considering Mayweather was prime and claims to be TBE and Oscar was well past prime.

He was stopped by Hopkins at 160, no shame. He was stopped by a prime Pacquiao when he was 76 years old and dehydrated.

Oscar DeLaHoya was great! He fought "everybody" and even though most "should" do this... hardly any fighter does. Yes, you get credit for that win, lose, or draw... especially if you didn't get dominated in the fight.

I would like to remind you once again that a shot Whitaker was making Oscar look bad at times.

Sh/t, at least he had the sack to fight everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) that all the doubters said he wouldn't. If that doesn't count for something, I guess you're a Mayweather fan.

He had the guts to take risks. Everyone should applaud him for that even if you want to hate on everything else.

Whitaker is one of the greatest boxers in history. Top 5 in his weight class, I'd argue top 3 in his prime.

    No shame in that.
