Right now ward, can have fights with the groves vs jack winner, degale. And apparently won't fight the derails because they are brothers.

If he goes up to 175 he gets decapitated.

    That's right.

He should have moved to LHW much sooner.

A lot can happen in 2 years. And Kessler proved that. He was a lot slower in 2009.

no he doesn't. almost every stoppage has been manufactured by the ref in Cardiff unless it was an absolutely abhorrent region-of-a-country level opponent, truly appalling.

Yep he has enough to keep his opponent from walking through them and scoring 10-8 rounds with knockdowns.
That's how you win fights by out scoring your opponent.

I mean when it comes to making fights, not head to head ability which boils down to guesses, even if some of the guesses may be educated.

He has been wasting his time with promotional issues, which is a tad different in my humble opinion.

Because every boxer who likes money and fame combined with winnable fights would have. Lucian Bute had already been KO'd by a B-level fighter. Joe Calzaghe stepped up against Chris Eubank and Mikkel Kessler because he realized there was an opportunity to get his hands on some decent money.

My critizism about Andre Ward is specificly that he doesn't make sense. There's no sense in him ducking a mouth watering unifiction fight with Bute, but he went ahead and did it. Maybe he felt more comfortable with a a drained LHW. I recall Serge posting a quote where Ward points out how much it can affect a fighter to move down in weight.

It didn't. And I suspect there wasn't any offer made at 2006 at all. I think Joe just said that to get away from the question.

While 'Dre refused to make title defences at all, and got stripped. Which Joe would never have allowed to happen to him. According to some sources, he had to be pushed to take the fight against Jeff Lacy, but in the end he did it. He didn't want to give up what he had. That's why I'm telling you that when you compare Calzaghe and Ward, most of the time Ward is one level below in how he manages his career :deal

The last is kind of ridiculous. No doubt Ward's career has stagnated the last few years, but in the 3 years prior, he managed to do what what it took Calzaghe a dozen years to do. Yes, Ward has oversold himself and made too many demands, and yes we have missed out on some potentially good fights because of it. Hopefully the behind the scenes nonsense is behind us and he can get back to fighting on the regular.

Much as with Calzaghe in the early 00's, Ward should probably move up soon, because if he doesn't and ends up not getting the biggest fights at smw, there will be similar questions.

Ward easily. Just like RJJ or Hopkins in their prime would beat Calzaghe with the same ease.

Be honest. Calzaghe and Ward are both elite. Ward is just technically so much better and has a higher boxing IQ.

Calzaghe might win some rounds but Ward easily can outbox Calzaghe. Hopkins and RJJ would probably have knocked Calzaghe out prime for prime. In RJJ's prime he was unbeatable at that weight, and had every advantage against anyone H2H. Hopkins had such high ring intelligence and stamina that I don't think Calzaghe could avoid being knocked out or outpointed but it would be much closer.

Ward is like some sort of mix between RJJ, Hopkins, and Mayweather. I would say Ward would be a style nightmare for Calzaghe because there isn't anything Ward doesn't do well and he has a very high ring IQ. Calzaghe would have to win by KO to beat Ward.

What I can't believe is to past their prime fighters were both able to floor Joe ..

Ward may have been able to hurt him as well ..
