Riddick Bowe vs Joe Louis

To be more precise: Bowe's heart kept him going even after his chin failed him. Thinking of the Golota fights. He was a difficult guy to finish off.

 

Bowe had one great fight in his whole career and that was Holyfield 1 .. that Bowe was a great fighter and would not only be the best fighter Louis ever faced but the best fighter most guys ever faced .. That being said Bowe certainly did not have an iron chin as he was knocked out cold multiple times as an amateur on big viewing platforms .. his management avoided Lennox Lewis for exactly this reason .. I like the best Louis with his speed and power as Bowe got hit too much and too often but it would be a very interesting fight ..

 

Louis would eat his cornflakes out of the top of Bowe's skull.

yea bowe got hit too much but what about louis he was floored a lot of times, bums like tony galento floored him.

bowe is taller 3 inches, longer 5 inches, heavier 30 lbs, and the most skilled and talented shw ever...he would stop louis no doubt in my mind

 

Outside of Holyfield, who did Bowe fight that was as good as Galento?

Before you reel off a list of names, consider that Galento was ranked in the top five.

I do not think very young amateur daaaaze-or even when just starting out as a pro-can be taken for peak chin. Or chin for most of a man's career.

When you add size & strength the best Bowe might have been the best Louis fought.

So it is a cae where a much greater fighter could possibly lose peak to peak due to being a modern SHW.

But I do not think Louis would lose.
I guess I believe Louis could do more than Holyfield.

 

The rap on Bowe coming into the pro's was his chin as again, I repeat fact, he was iced multiple times in high profile bouts on his amateur career in addition to be beat up by Lewis in the Olympics .. Rid**** was carefully matched as a pro .. he never fought huge, talented punches like Lewis, Ruddock, Tyson, Mercer .. Hide was second rate and maybe you can mention who exactly Golata ever defeated and Holyfield was a warrior but not a huge heavyweight puncher. In addition he was almost iced by Holyfield in their third bout .. all that being said , it's one thing to make a point but by trying to rip oe Louis to do so you sound like an amateur .. :roll:

Bum of the month material, both of them.

Conn might have had more chance against Louis, than against Bowe, because there was a smaller gap to bridge.

That doesn't mean that Bowe is going to give Louis a long night.

 

let's remember golota at that time was 240 lbs big guy with a high % ko wins...it's easy now to say that he is nothing.

since you always like to bring size in the discussion when you want to, how about the fact that bowe is taller 3 inches than louis, has a 5 inches longer reach, and 30-35 lbs weight advantage???
