Joe punches for fluff and presentation to the judges. Manny and Rocky punched to destroy the whole fight. There's a difference.
It's hard to say. Boxing has such a rich history that i think people forget in the early times of the sport, there were matches that lasted over 40-50 rounds. those fights were SO much different. Back than if you knocked an opponent down, you didn't have to go to a neutral corner, rather they could stand right on top of their fallen foe and wait for them to get back up just to meet them with a sucker punch they didn't see coming. Guys like Johnson and Langford have been in some wars that lasted a lot longer than the 12 or 15 round fights people are accustomed to seeing. So those guys that fought over 30-40 rounds in the early era of the sport deserve a lot of recognition. I'm pretty sure there were fights that even went past 50 rounds, as crazy as that sounds. For current/active fighters, it has to be FLoyd Mayweather and Bernard Hopkins. It's a testament to how they keep themselves conditioned in between fights and don't allow themselves to balloon up in weight. When I look at the landscape of the current boxers, those are the 2 guys that I always thought would've had zero problems fighting in the 15 round era of the sport.
Holyfield. Stamina must be based on more than physique alone. Also cannot go with Mayweather or Hopkins. They throw 400 punches a fight.
Gotta give a shout out to Prince Maz. Although he needed a liver and kidney transplant as well as a full body cast, he survived 7 rounds with the best puncher p4p, a Ali Raymi.
Chris Arreola Ricardo Mayorga Seth Mitchell Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. Tony Galento Rid**** Bowe Hard to decide who is the best out of all of those... I think maybe Galento.
rocky Marciano had to be in superb condition it was the main asset to his game haggler also faboulusly conditioned others like Carmen basilio Evander Holyfield barry mcguigan
The first half of your post brings up a great point But Floyd and Hopkins barely threw so no chance. In fact Calzaghe had Hopkins so exhausted he needed a 5 minute time out
