This "superior drawing power" argument for GGG is being grossly blown out of proportion. The way some people are speaking (not you necessarily Rock), you would think it was like comparing the drawing power between Floyd and anyone not named Pacquiao. The discrepancy isn't all that.

And drawing power isn't the end-all be-all. Especially when I believe Ward made a higher purse last time around than Golovkin did?

The success of his team in past negotiations suggests otherwise. Especially since Ward has a handful of big wins, and to date, GGG clearly does not.

GGG's team saying they want the fight at 164 is basically the same as saying they do not want the fight at all - especially in light of the fact GGG has been on record saying he'd face Froch or Chavez at the full 168.

Very unbecoming of GGG and his team, and it dispells the entire myth founded in claims he'd face anyone 154-168.

    Agreed on all counts.

But I don't think GGG is eager to face Ward at 168, and likewise, Ward isn't especially eager to face Kovalev at 175 either. And we can stretch this further, and say Canelo, Cotto, and Floyd aren't keen on the idea of facing GGG at 160. And all of these things make sense.

GGG will go a WHOLE CLASS UP OR DOWN FOR A PPV FIGHT.

K2 knows they can sell 500k against anyone....probably crack 750k vs Froch or Cotto or Canelo.

Against Ward... He would have to be FORCED INTO COMMITTING TO SMW....And without the big fights to make on PPV afterward.

He would essentially be GIFTING THE MW division to Canelo who will be doing ppvs vs the likes of Lee and Jacobs.

Should he pi$$ that away for 50/50 of $5 mil.....

    Hells No.

    He'll take 55% for 166 or 60% at 168.
And a rehydration clause and vada will be included.

He was clear he would come way down for any of them.

    I think we are closer to a Ward-Kovalev match up then a Ward-Triple G.

He should fight Ward or Lara if they are offering and stop moaning nobody wants to fight him, they are much bigger names than he's used to and isn't getting any younger, can't wait for Froch forever. The Canelo vs Cotto winner will have to fight him, maybe he knows Froch is guaranteed money so worth it, Lara and Ward are difficult to look good against and could scupper his Cotto/Canelo crossover fight. So he might be doing what he's annoyed at everybody else for  I do think he beats Lara but not Ward.

Yeah, of course he would. Because he's desperate for a payday.

Are you saying GGG would be willing to face Floyd at 147 with a rehydration clause and the strictest drug testing imaginable?

I don't think he would, nor do I think he should.

Last I read on that front, Duva said her and RocNation had talks about a potential Ward-Kovalev fight next year, and she sounded ambitious.

If I'm Ward - I do everything in my power to face Golovkin before venturing into dangerous territory against Kovalev at 175.

Golovkin is a very winnable fight for Ward in which he should be a big time favorite. The same cannot be said of Kovalev.
