I'd like to think this is just them setting out a tough opening stance for any potential negotiations, knowing how much Ward usually likes to dictate things.

Start out saying something unreasonable like 164, 75-25 purse split and 8x8 ring in GGG's living room and hopefully we end up somewhere in the middle.

I will say if the fight were to be signed at under 168 (never happen, Ward will never concede that) it is a ***** move by GGG and I will be very disappointed in him.

On the same token seeing as people are talking about it, Ward dragging Kov/Pimp down to under 175 is also a ***** move IMO.

Seriously fvck catchweights, either fight at the weight limit or don't sign for the fight. All you are doing by dragging opponents down to a catch weight is saying "I know I'm not good enough to beat you fairly" and ensuring you get a lot less credit for it if you do win.

Obviously from the fighters POV they still get paid which makes it worthwhile but as a fan it massively diminishes the fight as you can never known to what extent the weight is/isn't a factor in how the fight turns out.

The fight will be at 168 if it happens.

    This is just negotiating.

    F*ck catch weights.

GGG should fight Ward at 168 or no fight. I can't believe his team actually had the nerve to try and pull a stunt like this and people are trying to defend it. It makes people think what alot of people have said all along is that GGG wants no parts of Ward and neither do his fans.:-(
BTW Ward couldn't have been more right in that video.

Because he's trying to prove himself to be the real deal that's why. Just like Ward said in the interview at some point in your career you have to step up and face an elite fighter and back it up and it can't be just once.:deal You have to prove that you're as good as you claim to be against proven guys you can't continue to face suspect competition and say you're the man. Ward has done this and so have others, he fought the best GGG needs to do the same or shut up about fighting anyone from 154-168 because he won't.

The last time Ward allowed himself to be weighed on fightnight he was a CRUISERWEIGHT.

GGG has clearly stated he'd go as far as 6 lbs for the LMW CHAMPION, and 5.9 lbs for the MW TITLIST or the highest quality boiled down MW, CANELO.

IF WARD WANTS TO BE THE BEST, HE NEEDS TO FIGHT GGG OR KOVALEV. PERIOD.
Beating some euro level TITLISTs in the 6 is exactly what GGG is doing outside of the 6.

As for the catch weight....it's a preliminary PUBLIC offer.
    The 4th made to Ward.

Perhaps Roc will counter the offer and give GGG $8 mil to come up to 168.
Loeffler will counter with a rehydration clause of 180 with a 250k/lb penalty and K2 will cover cost of VADA testing....

    This will end negotiations.
Ward comes in at 185/190 & is roided to the gills

I reckon 168 is about right. I also think that a 50-50 split ain't bad, but maybe Golovkin's promoters are angling for 60-40 at 168. GGG is unquestionably the bigger draw at this stage. Ward's inactivity has hurt him badly in the marketing stakes.

However, if Ward really has outgrown 168, then making this fight is pointless. I don't want to see Gennady pummel Ward's cadaver. I want to see a fair a fight as possible between these two outstanding boxers.

    I agree.

This fight will never be at catchweight. F*ck catch weights.

It's probably just negotiating but it does not put Golovkin in a good light.

I am sure both Ward and GGG want the fight, negotiations should be behind the scenes and then announce when its done.

    Real simple.
