I was going to joke that there's no Quick Tillis statue in Oklahoma, as far as I know. And what about Sean O'Grady? I guess it's a 'local boy makes good' thing in Jay, OK. Maybe Tommy's statue could serve as a cautionary tale.

So its not about being a criminal or anything, its all about perceived greatness to you.

So you would not oppose memorials to the Liston and Foremans due to their boxing record.

Morrison was a very good heavy weight. He had some tremendous wins, was an excellent athlete and a good sportsmen. So he deserves a monument. But... yeah he is a white guy so that gives you problems. I think we all get it.

Oklahoma Satanists were planning to build a statue for the state capitol. Google it.
There was some opposition to that, of course.

Maybe the Morrison statue is a compromise.

No that's not it at all. Great athletes are going to be memorialized whether I agree or not. And the greater the athlete, the greater the public's tolerance for their bs. Morrison was more of a fringe pop culture figure than an actual accomplished boxer.

Tillis is Black, HELL WILL FREEZE OVER, before they honor a Black man, with a statue in a redneck cesspool Klan driven racist good ol boy RepubliKKKon state (if you wanna call it that) like Oklahoma :-( hell to the no!!

Umm it's not like Oklahoma is a real state like California:deal or New York, states that actually matter, nobody gives a **** about Oklahoma, that's why Morrison got the hell out of there, and moved to Tennessee..

Sean O Grady was a legend there, guess they forgot about ol Sean??:verysad

Foreman has many skeletons in his closet. Not a good guy. Just a good crafted image.

    Exactly.

After Mike Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, George Foreman publicly admitted he'd done the same thing to a girl in New York in 1976 ... and that the police were called to the hotel where it happened ... but the incident "went away."

Foreman said he could relate to Tyson because he could've easily been him if the times were different.

George reformed himself with time though. It's a distinct difference between Morrison and him.

Luckily, the seventies was a time when black men could do anything and cops would turn a blind eye.
