    @ElCyclone

    The Boxing Commision did overturn the decision, but had no authority to do so. It had nothing to do with bad refing and more to do with the politics of boxing.

    Chavez put Taylor into the hospital, one more punch could have killed him..........................Chavez knocked Taylor out in the 8th round in the rematch...........................Chavez would have cut off the ring on Void, he would have broken Void's' arms, Void would have to have his personal referee to help him out, but it wouldn't do him any good..............Golovkin would knock Void out, even at 154............

    That seems to be one side of the story. Another story says that the ref screwed up. The only thing everyone agrees on is that Chavez knocked the guy out. One thing's for sure though, anyone stressing this issue to try and discredit Chavez would only do it out of vindictive pettiness.

    @ElCylone

    I've read about this story on 3 different websites and I've yet to read it was a refing error. As far as him KOing the opponent he was disqualified against, there's nothing to agree on, he did in fact KO they guy, but it was after the bell as all reports I've read had it. If anyone's trying to discredit Chavez it's the reporting authorities who covered the event during that time. I have nothing against Chavez, I just found this story truly interesting but not surprising given how corrupt boxing can be.

    Sorry to single you out, mate. There are dozens of comments like this in here.

    But this is the kind of ignorance I'm talking about.

    In the first place there is more than one way to box.

    Furthermore, there was nothing 'typical' about Chavez' style. He was a superb boxer. His footwork, the way he controlled range and kept his opponents off balance and vulnerable, the way he created angles, his timing, his accuracy etc.

    As mentioned previously, at his peak Chavez would regularly land over 60% of his punches. Accuracy like that is unheard of today. Prime Chavez had ATG skills in spades.

    Dela Hoya was great, but a prime Chavez was more formidable than a prime Dela Hoya, something I'm sure Dela hoya would acknowledge himself.

    When Chavez fought Dela Hoya he was near the end and way past his best.

    We all have our favourites, of course, but I am convinced that a lot of the Mayweather fans who post here have got caught up in the media hype and the undefeated record, however they clearly do not understand what they are watching when he actually boxes. That's okay, I don't claim to be an expert myself and we all need to learn, but a lot of these fans just don't seem interested in anything other than Mayweather.

    Chavez jr was not exactly the boogie man. Mayweather was all around way more talented.
