    They threw simultaneous left hooks, clashed arms and the poor guys shoulder popped out. In round 2. A classic case of 'No Contest'. (Home Cooking)

    They both swung, arms locked and his shoulder went out of joint. It should have been ruled a no contest, but the rule is that it wasn't an accident so Flanagan was the winner. Blame the rule, not the ref.

    I am neither blind, nor deaf, and therefore I could hear the explanation of the ringside commentators. The clash of arms came about as a result of both fighters throwing a punch, therefore under the rules it was his own fault. Had he not been throwing it would presumably have been deemed an accident, and therefore a no contest. As I said previously, blame the rule.

    One more time - it was as clear-cut an 'accident' as you could get. You mean to tell me that either boxer intended it to happen? Come on. If fighters could win fights by deliberately (ie non-accidentally) dislocating their opponents arms, they would all be at it! It was an accident.

    Ever heard of 'Home Cooking'?

    That fight should have been ruled a 'No Contest'.

    Flanagan threw a punch intending to inflict damage on his opponent ?

    End of story, rules is rules, nationalistic bitterness rears its ugly head again.

    Flanagan won fair and square under the rules of the contest.

    One more time again. I agree that it was an accident. I said it was. But under WBO rules it wasn't, and all your talk of 'home cooking' (whatever that is) won't change that.

    Very unsatisfactory outcome.

    My immediate reaction was a no contest and then I thought it should be classed in the same way as an accidental clash of heads and then I started to have weird thoughts about the definition of "accidental"........I accidentally got knocked out so it should be a no contest!!!

    Damned if you do, damned if you don't on this one I reckon.
    Natural justice is a rematch.

    Not much chance of Ricky Burns getting his old belt back as Flanagan is with the ******s.

    At last - a sensible post. Yes, it was a bit tricky, but you were right first time - it should have been treated the same as a clash of heads. When you get right down to it, its simple.

    Delighted for Flanagan though.
