FOTC Frazier v Tokyo Douglas?

Is "Tokyo Douglas" supposed to be some special version of Douglas just because he beat Tyson?

But seriously.it was not just glancing shots, it was the total effect of Foreman & style match ups-against a past peak Frazier who it has been pointed out, could not land effectively coming in anymore.

Douglas (231 lbs then), was a boxer, not a slugger like Foreman.
Though ecellent that night, he feaster on Tyson's passivity & gained courage.

Even the weight difference is only proportional to height.

Foreman beat many tomato cans-like most all on the way up-but some good guys & a peak Norton too!

He was NOT merely a crude slugger.
Even then he had some good moves & a great jab when depolyed.

Frazier, late.

 

Douglas, easily. This Frazier ATG garbage is hysterical. If he wasn't around in Ali's era he wouldn't be anything like an ATG. His fanboys can bleat all they like but the 1 -4 against his best opposition won't go away. Douglas hit a lot harder than Ali, that.s for sure, and as stated Frazier got offended if you missed him with a shot.

The motivated Douglas that fought that night stops Frazier quicker than he did Tyson. Sadly for the fanboys that version of Tyson had more resistance, and was still far better than ANY version of Frazier EVER.

Put it this way. Prime for prime, if you give Frazier any longer than 3 rounds against Tyson, you shouldn't be following boxing.

 

Douglas would have been hell for anyone on that night.

Not as rusty as some would like us to think in 70 Ali boxed 18 rounds ? while frazier boxed about 6 . So yes Ali had to be carrying a certain amount of rust but he was not exactly the rust covered fighter Ali fans bang on about

No mcvey I agree with you to a point but to suggest that Ali hadn't knocked off a good amount of that rust is daft . 18 rounds against the calibre of quarry and oscar B is better competition than wlad gets most years .

On the subject of the thread I'd take frazier to wear Douglas down for a KO win around the 9th to 11th rounds

 

I think people backing Douglas are underestimating the mental state of the fighters on the night which is VERY important. Frazier was trained for 15 rounds, knew he was in for a tough fight and had great punch resistance against stick and move boxers. He was ready that night. Frazier would have bob and weaved away from Douglas's jab's and countered with left hooks the way he did against Ali.

Frazier I cant see beating Tyson but thats not the question. Douglas beat Tyson not just because he was in shape but because he believed he could win. Tyson went into the fight expecting an easy fight one or two rounds. Tyson was discouraged against boxers who were beating him in a fight - in fact Tyson was only ever knocked down 4 fights in his career and lost them all. Frazier was never discouraged that night against Ali despite taking a beating in the first 3 rounds.

 

Oh, he was, because it suits the narrative. Frazier beat a better Ali than they will admit, and Ali was good enough to effectively finish Joe as a fighter. The FOTC Ali would have been way to much for most fighters.

As for Buster Douglas, he wouldn't be fighting a stationary Tyson looking for a kayo with every shot. He'd be defending against someone with ridiculous stamina and pressure. I don't see him surviving for 15 rounds. The FOTC Ali would have toyed with the Tokyo Tyson, too.
