Draining is BS no matter who does it. If both guys cant be healthy and of comparable size to make it a good fight, dont hold the bout period. /endof

Ok - I see it says "My honest opinion is it was definitely a set up by HBO and other people, too. It was set up for me to come in at 168. I would be vulnerable and they could expose it and he would look good at the same time. That's just my opinion on the whole situation. We could've done it at a catch weight where we both would've been comfortable but they wanted it at 168."

So where was he forced to say it? "They wanted it at 168". Who's they? Ward? HBO? It's not adding up b.

😂 Dawson's own trainer didn't even know why he was complaining. From your link:

That, though, flies against reality. Dawson's trainer at the time, John Scully, said it was Dawson himself who brought up the idea of fighting Ward at 168 pounds. After Dawson's rematch victory over Bernard Hopkins on April 28, 2012, Dawson asked for the fight with Ward during an interview with HBO's Max Kellerman.
Scully conceded that Dawson had great trouble cutting the weight for the Ward fight, but said Dawson brought it up first.

"I didn't know they were talking about a fight with Ward, because I don't get involved in the business end of it with any fighters," Scully told Yahoo! Sports. "But after we beat Hopkins, I was standing next to him in the ring when he was interviewed by Kellerman and he said he wanted to fight Ward at 168. I was like, 'OK. That's interesting.' But he said it and it was the first time I'd heard it."

At the 5:14 mark of the video below of the Dawson-Hopkins post-fight news conference, Dawson is asked if he'd go to 168 to fight Ward.

"Right now, you know, I'd fight anybody, 168, 175. You know? I'm not saying I prefer to come out of my comfort zone, which is 175, but I could make 168. I come into camp at about 178 pounds. I know I look bigger than what everybody thinks, but I could make 168, or I could stick around at 175."

Not sure if Ward could make that weight. I say 166 could be doable but imho GGG should fight the winner of Cotto/Canelo early next year and then move up to 168 and fight ward early in `17

Using the OP's logic: Golovkin is a bum because he's asking for a catchweight in his first weight class. Pacquiao moved up 8 weight classes!

After that I think he should face Lemieux and Lee, those would be big money fights around that time, than he should move up, since going back down would be difficult for his body to take. Once he finishes his business at 160, he can worry about 168 and 175. :deal

If he's a natural 175 draining himself to 168 pounds, then why 164 pounds catchweight vs ggg??? You not making sense. Btw ggg was willing to fight either froch or chavez jr at 168 pounds so why not 168 pounds vs ward???

That would definitely make GGG and most all boxings fans the happiest.
GGG will be happy to go down for Canelo Cotto or Mayweather.
And he would be happy to go all the way at 168 IF he can get his WBC belt and the IBF.

Once he achieves that goal, he's clearly the new PPV KING, AND ANYONE CAN GET IT.

    THAT'S HIS GOAL.

HE WANTS HE AND HIS OPPONENTS TO MAXIMISE THEIR EARNINGS.

Money.....can't telling if your seriously that obtuse.

He wants to be the PPV KING, and Froch, Chavez(last summer) Cotto, Canelo and Mayweather ALL GET HIM THERE AFTER HE COMPLETELY DOMINATES THEM IN BRUTAL FASHION.

They can't be Mayweather fans or they'd be thrilled at GGG wanting to fight the p4p #2 @164 just as Mayweather demanded that the p4p #11 came down to 152.

Mayweather fans don't hold greats to a higher standard.
They just wanna see the greats fight the greats.
Even if it means minor concessions by each fighter

I'll add that most Mayweather fans would be angry if Canelo did not come up to 156 for GGG, and would be angry if Rigo did not come up to 124 for Lomachenko.
