My interpretation of the term "A-Side" is the fighter who is in higher public demand.

There are exceptions to this, but it seems to be the most fitting definition, generally speaking, imo.

Jay Z will be broke soon with Ward.
At least he's got Cotto-Canelo PPV going for Roc Nation.

Ward is a complete money pit unless you force him to take good fights, and no, a rematch with Paul Smith isn't 1 of them :lol:

    lol

    Touche'

Ward, though should be known by all Froch fans and so I venture to guess that he has a decent following amongst UK boxing fans.

Smith is about as anonymous as they come amongst US boxing fans. The Ward fight was the first time I've seen him since his appearance on the TV show "The Contender." lol

Wait so GGG fights in a dead division with no one there to really test him, yet Lee and Quillin are acceptable opponents for Ward if they move up? I'm done.

Andre Ward - 2 million dollar purse

GGG - 1.5 million dollar purse

    Ward = A Side.

    Always was, always will be.

    Nice try. 2/10 for effort.
Ward pulled in 323,000 viewers on BET. His Rodriguez fight ticket sales in his home town were bad, filling 1/2 of an 8k arena. Ward needs GGG to gain popularity and ratings far more than the reverse. Golovkin steamrolls his ratings and ticket sales numbers.
I don't see guys running to fight Ward and I don't see Ward going to 175, so I think you're dreaming in that Ward has more options than Golovkin. Golovkin has potentially Lee, Lemieux, and Cotto/Canelo winner just over the horizon. We can speculate on these just as well as we can speculate on Ward fighting Chavez, Degale, Kovalev or Stevenson. No matter how I slice it, I can't make Ward the financial A-side in this matchup.

I wouldn't either, but I wouldn't hold my breath for any of the fights for Ward that he listed, either. That was my point, if you read my post: That speculation on either is about equivalent.
Oscar did say this: https://twitter.com/oscardelahoya/status/569279643770945536 but we'll see...

    Fair enough.

(I do think Lee would jump in there with him far more quickly than any of the others mentioned).

I'll believe when I see it. Oscar says a lot of things.

I completely agree. Oscar saying it holds little water and Lee would definitely get in there before any of the others.

yep, sooo many options, especially if he stays at 168

meanwhile Golovkin can keep making a Hopkins-like legacy at MW, cleaning out at least 2 generations and scaring others out of the division
