Putting 30lbs of muscle on Marciano would do two things.Slow a slowish fighter down even more and adversely effect his work rate. Marciano's physical dimensions are such that adding bulk to them would enhance nothing. He had a 39" chest! Making him more cosmetically acceptable gives him nothing in fighting ability .Marciano won fights because, apart from his punch and courage he was always the fittest, best conditioned guy in the ring, adding slabs of muscle to his frame would detract from that.

Not necessarily, muscle can give you explosive speed as well as power.

I wouldn't say Holyfield looked any faster in his Cruiserweight days than his early heavyweight days.

Excellent point. Those guys were simply much bigger men than Rocky. And let's not pretend that the 80s heavyweights got huge because they had access to the best in modern nutrition and training. Tyson was huge and muscular as a kid. Only way that Marciano could bulk up to the size of a Tyson or a Tua would be to become an over-muscled bodybuilder with no flexibility and (even less) speed.

Marciano did have slope shoulders and he did have a small chest ,[ I had a bigger one when I left college and weighed 168lbs,] Marciano had small biceps, big forearms for his size ,and thick thighs. When he was just a kid Tyson was naturally bigger than the mature Marciano .
Tua is huge through the chest and thighs with the following:

    Chest 49"ex 51" Rocky39"ex 42". 10" difference!
    Biceps 19" 14" . 5"difference!
    Forearm 15" 12" 3"difference
    Thigh 30" 22" 8" difference
    Calf 19.75" 14.25" 5.5"difference
    Neck 19" 16.25" 2.75" difference

    Totally different body structures.

    I agree, Tua is massive.

But there's no knowing exactly how much weight Marciano could have carried effectively.
Seamus is stating things as if he's carried out some sort of extensive scientific study of Marciano's body frame and structure. I'm calling BS on that.
People who met him when he was alive never said he was "tiny", in fact the opposite in that some expressed surprise at how big he seemed in real life, for what it's worth.

It's not at all easy to predict how any individual might carry extra weight, whether it muscle or fat.

Which fails to prove your point that extra muscle can make a fighter faster.Whereas extra bulk can slow a fighter down as has been shown countless times. Ali dropped weight for Copper because he wanted to be faster, if the converse was possible he would have added it and also got the benefit of the extra poundage.
