Wow Qawi was an animal. Holyfield hit him with s 6 punch combination flush. Qawi smiled at him baited Holyfield to throw 6 more, Holyfield threw 8 more in a row and missed all 8 because Qawi displayed terrific head movement. After making Holyfield miss and saw the look on Holyfield face that he was physically tired and mentally defeated by this animal, he unloades a crunching 6 punch combination of his own to badly stun evander

What a beast, very composed fighter too

One of my all-time favorite fighters. Highly skilled (had to be to regularly outjab bigger, longer men), amazing evasiveness, highly aggressive, and had a ton of style. What exactly do you mean by "animal" and "beast"?

I don't get you. Love Qawi but hate Marciano?

Quawi is a quicker, more versatile, albeit less powerful Joe Frazier.

He really treats it like a fight.

Whoa...very different fighters. Qawi's jabs and head movement/slips/rolls were things of beauty.

    Ducker: crazier/quawi
Dipper: marciano. That is at the legs to dip a lunch
    Dive: LaMotta
    Dodge: Ali

Tyson did side to side. So dodge.

    Good stuff on Qawi

Watch Marciano vs Moore especially the mid-late rounds. Marciano slipping the jab, slips rolls movement in his crouch is world class stuff. Watch it

Qawi was already washed up by then. Watch Qawi -Matthew Saad Muhammad. Qawi was probably the most underrated fighter of my lifetime.

Another thing about that fight, they brawled for 15 rounds and there was maybe one clinch.

You're right, washed up is strong, but he was past his prime, he was a 195lb. 5'6 cokehead/alcoholic by then.

No, but he was fighting at a lower weight, so his opponents were smaller.

Head to head, he is one of the better fighters out there at either 175 or 195. Took Michael Spinks on his best, most focused night night to just edge him. That says a lot.

Qawi was a very good fighter, just below the ATG level, imo. If not for Michael Spinks he would have been the top LHW of his era. I remember when he first came on the scene as Dwight Braxton. When he went to HW, he was past it, but still competitive with the top guys. Considering how small he was, that's pretty amazing.

The rematch showed the other side of him as a fighter sadly, as he rolled over meekly for Evander.Like the other two greatly talented but underachieving 175 fighters of that rough era...Gregory and Conteh, he was an inconsistent fighter mentally.

Really though, he should never have been at Cruiser in the first place. It's a shame he didn't have more dedication and love for the sport as he could have hung around at 175 and challenged Spinks again...he had more to offer pace-wise than he showed in that fight, but seemed to made periodically tentative by Spinks power.

With more of the Frazier mindset we would probably have got a series between them.Maybe Qawi would have won, who knows.
