i understand where you are coming from to an extent mate, but as has been said by others on here sparring is totally different to fight night. i have personally sparred guys in their gym and been given a bit of a beating but whenever i boxed them for real i won. there has also been times when other guys came to my gym and i got the upper hand and i never beat them in competative action. i dont know if you have ever competed? but if you did you would defo know there is a difference.

id like to see you break down the fighters above and realistically see what levels you think they could win titles!!

i would also like others to break them down just to see where everybody sits on his world title fights, like i have said in my opening post that although its not full of elite fighters it certainly isnt worse than other world champions from these shores and it woudl be nice for the thread not to turn into a blast at billy or ricky!!

the only comparison ii can give is when Ricky sparred and fought Kevin Mitchell that is a prime example,eh Kevin's a great wee fighter but will never beat Ricky he simply has his number

Which Groves' win do you claim to be his best?

Before you answer.......your claim will be that Groves' best win was better than Burns beating Roman Martinez.

DeGale, a world Olympic gold medallist and current world champ.

    Ever heard of him?

Ricky Burns had a great career, greatly overachieved considering his background and the Scots should be proud of their man.

Look at Willie Thorne he was the best snooker player in the world in practice but when it came to real matches he was not, many of sportsman are the same. The fact it is 8oz gloves It would appear has a negative effect on Ricky as he has not mentally been the same since Beltran on fight nights.

i agree that ricky may have kevs number, you have mentioned it in sparring before the fight and ive heard similar stories after!!

i also hope that ricky does get another shot and starts getting confidence back after the figueroa fight he might start beleiving again!!

i would still like to see how you rate the guys ricky boxed when winning/defending and losing his title. it would be great to hear what you think about them in hindsight and as honestly as possible please!! lol

    Oh dear....

Of course DeGale was world champion and the recognised number one in the division when Groves beat him??

i hardly think so, no matter what you think Martinez was Ring mag No1 Ricky beat him and beat him well, with respect to George he has failed twice at world level so how you make that assessment is beyond me
I won't be replying to anymore of your ****ty comment because you are a complete clown, it would be so diffrent if you had a tiny clue but you just don't! bye bonnet bou

I think Ricky has had a pretty decent career thus far. He is a good fighter but seems to be mentally shot. But you cant have the run he had without being able box a bit and some might say Billy had him boxing above his ability?

Billy I see where your coming from, but let's remember Groves two attempts at world titles have come against Carl Froch.

As much as I like Ricky as a fighter, let's be honest who's he come up that's proven and on the level as Carl Froch? The best man he's ever stepped in the ring with was Terence Crawford, where he himself lost.. to which there's no disgrace as he's a brilliant fighter. Crawford may go on to do special things, but at this moment in time he's not faced the level of opposition or proved himself anything like Carl Froch.
