Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux - The SIZE/WEIGHT. The REAL Fight of The Century.

    Ok I have to come back for this. If this happens (likely), woah.
    The skill level in this fight > MayPac.
    They're in the same tier as Mayweather also, in boxing today.


    Rehydration Clause Decreasing the Weight Advantage of Lomachenko:

    a. Lomachenko = weakened by cutting weight a little to get to 126lbs in the first place, just like all boxers are. Rigondeaux is not. He'll come into the weigh-in fully hydrated.

    b. Lomachenko = 134lbs on fight night (clause). He usually rehydrates to around 136-138lbs these days.

    c. Rigondeaux will potentially weigh up to 128lbs on fight night because he is fighting a bigger guy, at featherweight. Thus there's only a 6lbs weight advantage. He has weighed in at 126lbs before on fight night.


    Lomachenko's Size Advantage

    a. Lomachenko certainly has the bigger frame. He's not a big featherweight though, he's a mid-sized featherweight.

    b. Lomachenko is 5'6.5, Rigondeaux is 5'4 - a 2.5 inch height advantage is hardly prolific.
    With that said, this advantage for Lomachenko is going to be somewhat offset by Rigondeaux's 3 inch reach advantage.

    c. Donaire was 139lbs. Amagasa was 145lbs. The size difference did look silly but Rigo's style makes it far easier for him to handle these guys. With all of the above, size is not going to play as big of a factor as we might think.


    Rigondeaux's Age

    34 years old...but Rigo's style allows him to experience the Hopkins and Mayweather effect. These guys last even until the age of 49 at the top level because their style is not like someone like Erik Morales - the aggressive dude who engages in wars, nor is it the style of a Roy Jones - dominantly dependent on athleticism.

    I genuinely believe Rigondeaux will only start slipping in at least 3 years time.

    I'm 80% sure Lomachenko will win.

    Not to derail your thread, but NEITHER guy is on the level of FLoyd Mayweather. That's just ridiculous talk. Both were great amateurs, but neither guy has done anything as a pro to be mentioned in the same breath as Floyd.

    Rigo is about 33 now and Vasyly is 26 or 27. I can guarantee you neither guy will end up anywhere as great as FLoyd Mayweather is.

    Now I do agree with you the skillset between these 2 guys are better than May-Pac. But that's speaks more to the lack of pure boxing skills of Pacman, not a grandmaster boxer of FLoyd's caliber.

    You're talking about a fighter who should be mentioned in the same breath as Benny Leonard, Joe Gans and WIllie Pep. Shame on you.

    That's fair enough.
    Floyd gets his competitive advantages from his ability to outbox his opponent...amateur style, but he has a few pro quirks to weather a dirty storm - and yet still in the opinion of many, he lost to Castillo in the first fight and drew against Maidana in the first fight. Given his style, we see he is a master boxer.
    However, Vasyl and Rigo are guys who are better at outboxing their opponent.
    All three will always have the most issues against the big, elite (something Maidana is not) dirty pressure fighter.

    I think Lomachenko has a good shot. He's already beaten the current lineal Featherweight champ in his third pro fight.
    If he beats Rigondeaux, that's a better scalp than anyone on Mayweather's resume..all in under 10 pro fights.

    Pac countered Floyd worse than Floyd ever countered him. Pac's defense and head movement in the fight was SUPERB, making Floyd miss BADLY and often.

    Pac's boxing skills are ELITE... him being an aggressive, offensive dynamo overshadows this.

    Yup, it was an even fight. I saw Manny land shots and evade others that many people who scores the fight for Mayweather, did not see.
    Slow-motion just proved my point.

    Past prime, injured and psychologically shot Pacquiao is better than people give him credit for.

    Lomachenko is way overhyped for a guy who lost to Salido. Salido's a gatekeeper who lost to Gamboa, Marquez, Mikey Garcia, Roman Martinez, and Cristobal Cruz, besides about eight other guys.

    Lomachenko's only accomplishment in the pros was beating Gary Russell Jr. Rigondeaux at least has Donaire to back up his pound for pound claims. You guys are really jumping the gun on Lomachenko. Calling him better than Manny Pacquiao a top 40 all time fighter is just ridiculous and disrespectful.

    Besides, if you didn't like Pac/May you won't like Rigo/Loma. The style match up is terrible for television. If Rigo/Donaire was a snooze how much worse will it be with two defensive movers in there?

    :patsch It was Lomachenko's second pro fight, Salido was the title holder, and he came in overweight, used his weight advantage to bully Lomachenko around and the referee did nothing. Salido lost to good boxers, and he is a 3 time world champion, and Lomachenko fought a competitive fight with him in his SECOND pro fight.

    Salido was like 148 on fight night. And it was his SECOND professional fight.

    Pacquiao won. He countered the **** out of Floyd and throughout the 12 round contest, Floyd was the one who was hurt. TWICE. Pac pressed the action. Floyd's mouth bled. Pac made Floyd's own dad stare at his son w/ rage, shame, and derision in his eyes.

    I don't understand these haters. They act like Salido beat the **** out of him like he did Juanma. It was a close fight and personally I thought Loma won.
    Even the punch-stats are against Siri, Loma outlanded him by over 20 punches. Most of Salido's connects were low blows lmao.
    Like you said it was his second pro fight against freaking Salido, other prospects have easier title shots after almost 25 pro fights and several years as pros. This guy went up against Salido in his second pro fight, a few months into his professional career and arguably won, imo he did enough.
    Then the referee let Salido get away with several dirty tactics and Loma's team allowed Siri not only to come in overweight at the weigh in, but also rehydrate to a crazy amount (that was a huge mistake on their part).
    Something tells me someone did not want to see Lomachenko break that record.

    a. I had it 115-113 Loma.
    b. Salido landed over 35 low blows - many of them set up more shots, or effective aggression (all of which should not have been counted). Around 80 of 110 total punches were 'body shots' by Salido..lol!
    - Take this away and Salido has nothing against a very conservative Loma
    c. Loma was trying to pace himself and was being too economical because he just wanted to get to 12 rounds without having gassed out
    - Loma now learned that he can last 12 rounds and he can throw more punches even if they don't land, in order to gain points on effective aggression
    d. Loma genuinely had Salido hurt in the 12th
    e. No one doubts that Loma would beat Salido easily now
    f. Salido was 147lbs on fight night.
    g. Salido's style will always be the most difficult for master boxers like Rigo, Loma and Floyd for example. Floyd lost to Castillo and drew against Maidana for example.
    h. Loma has learned the necessary lessons.

    I didn't like MayPac because there was excess RUNNING and holding by Mayweather, and Pac wasn't the Pac he once was. At least with RigoLoma, it'll be a chess match where they're both in punching range.

    Yes, he beat the guy who is now the lineal Featherweight champ, in his 3rd pro fight.

    Make all the excuses you want. If you can't beat gatekeepers like Salido, you aren't first class.

    I'm not sure how Lomachenko's career is going to shake out. Maybe, he'll be like Zou Shiming who won a title in five fights and them immediately lost it. Maybe, he'll be exposed like Andre Berto, Amir Khan, or Adrien Broner. Maybe, he'll only lose to name guys like Devon Alexander and be something of a contender/gatekeeper himself. Or he'll have a couple of pockets of success like Lamont Peterson. Maybe, his star will rise rapidly and then rapidly fall like Kelly Pavlik or Chad Dawson. It's too early to tell. But he'll never have Mayweather's career because that 0 is already gone.
