It's to the point now that the guy surely can't be allowed to call any more fights from anywhere other than his own living room.

The man is painful. Calling the kid from Croatia ''whatever his name is'' as he fought as hard as he could against Martin Murray. Patronising Nurse versus Jenkins as ''a good little s****''. Yelling ''Robbery!'' as Crolla versus Perez, a close fight, was scored a draw. Never allowing 5 seconds peace without him shouting something inane, obnoxious or irrelevant. This all in the last 3 hours by the way.

Going from Ian Darke to this man is like Man.City selling Sergio Aguero and replacing him with Ricky Lambert. Halling is an ignorant, loud, obnoxious oaf who is ruining Sky Sports' Boxing coverage single-handedly.

Nonsense, Hailing is a good commentator, he can make an ordinary fight sound emphatic and a brings a sense of spectacle to some of the dross he has to commentate on. Why don't you have a go at commentating?

Agree but Rickie lambert is sound and should never be compared to halling, more like replacing Aguero with diouf:good

Yeah, Lambert's a far better footballer than Halling is a commentator. A more apt example would be someone like a Steve Claridge (harsh on Claridge, just can't think of any non-league examples).

I cannot listen to him. The worst if when Anthony Joshua fights and he repeatedly goes on about how he "zeroes in"

In fairness to Halling, I know people who have worked with him and he is a nice bloke. He was a very good NFL pundit in terms of putting the viewer at ease and I thought he was a good narrator on the otherwise awful KOTV. I think some of the person comments are unnecessary although I don't know why he got involved in the Frampton-Quigg- Galahad three ball a while back on Twitter.

I just don't think boxing is suited to him and he isn't a good enough play by play man. Agree that Sky should move on. But then I can't agree with anything Sky do with boxing. From a 'monopoly' promoter who has filled a nearly all (last night being an exception) his Sky TV cards with mismatches to pulling Ringside and going the PPV route. Adam 'fascinating' Smith does my head in also.

I think this is the whole problem. Not dissimilar to most of the football coverage we see it's an old boys club where people are hired and then remain forever unfireable based on them being "top blokes" rather than them actually being any good at the job.

Quality of ****ysis barely figures into the equation. Once you're in the right circle you can produce year upon year of diabolical nonsensical punditry but the only way you'll ever be replaced is if you rub the wrong person the wrong way or if you get caught on cam asking Jamie Redknapp if he "smashed" the lines-woman with the lovely tits. Short of deciding to go on a murder spree the likes of Spencer Oliver, Jim Watt and Nick Halling have jobs for life.
