Leonard was not even the best of the Fab 4.

I would argue that Leonard was overrated compared to Hearns, but that's in large part because I think that most people grossly underrate Hearns.

    A few general comments though:

    1) Hagler had too much pride and dug himself into a whole by opened up with a dumb fight plan. That and he wasn't prepared to cut off the ring. Not Leonard's fault for boxing a smart fight.

    2) Just for the record, Leonard ran WAY more than Floyd would have. Floyd defends himself with his guard and upper-body movement way more than Leonard, who defended more with his legs.

    3) Who are these "lot of people" who think Leonard proved his superior? Casuals? I've never seen a serious list or heard a serious aficionado place Leonard above Duran. Everyone knows that Duran was fighting above his best weight when they met.

    4) I agree that he was sort of "lucky" to beat Hearns and Hagler in that I doubt that he would have beaten either in rematches. Not much of a knock against him though, considering that Hearns would possibly be favored over any welterweight in history and Hagler was a middleweight.

 He stopped Benitez, Duran and Hearns and decisioned Hagler.

He was the best of the four.

    Then this.

    How about this?

    https://youtu.be/h2pIVQIjnxY?t=12

Or even this, where Hearns weighed in at 191.

Now all I want you to do is show me where Tommy looks fat, or bloated, then come back and try to convince me again that he didn't have any problems making 147 ,and could have done so easily anytime after September 81.

You will forgive me for believing what I can actually see, as opposed to believing your nonsensical opinion due to your hero worship of Ray Leonard?

Sorry but I find that incredibly hard to believe. Less than 12 weeks after Leonard he fought Singletary, and weighed in at 155, makes 154 for the Geraldo fight 10 weeks after that, then a mere 5 months later is at 160, all bar the shouting for McCracken.

He then has 5 fights in less than 2 years, 4 of which are at 154, and 1 at 158. Next comes Hagler at 160, another visit to 154 for Medal in June 86, then it is a steady increase.

The point being Tommy always looked ripped even at 180 +, it is beyond silly to claim he could have made 147 again without dehydrating himself to skeletal proportions after 81.

Leonard was a superior fighter than Hearns, Benitez, Hagler and Duran.

however, SRL beat the daylights out of Duran in their second fight and that makes SRL pretty great on his own :good

Also the CBS live broadcast of the first Leonard and Duran fight was a joke. So much bias in favor of Leonard.

I can't count how many times they said Leonard had Duran hurt. He never came close to rocking Duran. Not once.

well i admit i haven't watched the fight in a while

however, i recall SRL out boxing Duran in that second fight to the point of frustration from many solid accurate punches that took Duran right out of this fight :think

Are you trying to mess with my mind :bbb

Well if you're talking about the second fight. I remember that Duran was badly embarrassed in the final round of the fight.

And then he just quit. I have no idea why.

But it's a myth that he was getting blown out. The fight was actually close on the cards. And Duran by no means needed KO to win or even a knockdown.

DURAN number one. Defeated leonard in his prime, was not losing badly at all in 2nd but quit because he was out of shape, Fought a better Hagler and ran it close

Hagler Number 2 , ATG Middleweight, Defeated Hearns, Duran AND Leonard.....

Hearns No 3 - Was winning 1st and did win the second fight with Leonard, Defeated Benitez and Duran, Fought a thrilling fight with Hagler and even rocked him

Leonard No 4 .... Defeated Benitez, got to a weakening Hearns in the first fight ( good win though) But LOST the Second , Lost To Duran, Then Cherry picked him while out of shape, No Quick rematch. Lost to Hagler in a close fight. ( Not official but reality)

Leonard is the worst of the Fab 4
