I cant believe the stupid hysteria surrounding both fights last night.

Knee-jerk responses from VERY short-sighted fans.

    (Overhyping Quigg & Underselling Frampton).

Quigg's just had a very good win, at last proving himself world class, and Frampton's just had a relatively poor performance. The parameters are shifting in Scott's favour but I do agree that one performance isn't the be all & end all

It's a complete U-turn from the same people who have been over hyping Frampton and under selling Quigg.

It's clear that the both of them are very good fighters and they HAVE to get the fight made, other Brook v Khan it's the best British fight out there.

I rate the pair of them, but ask me to pick a winner and I'm going with Frampton.

Frampton last night, I believe probably under estimated his opponent and was made to pay early on with 2 flash knock downs (lets get it right, he wasn't hurt). Quigg also didn't look too good in the opening round against Martinez, he got caught with a lot of shots.

After the disaster opening round Frampton started to get things together and especially by the 4/5th rounds he was setting his feet and getting his shots off nicely. Gonzalez was tough!

As with the ever game Martinez, his own never ending attacks has it's pro's but it also makes him vulnerable. When Quigg caught him with that uppercut the writing was on the wall and he just unleashed bombs from them on and got the victory. Big statement and a good win, but not to knock Quigg in anyway but let's put it in perspective that Martinez has took two pastings off Frampton before going in with Quigg.

Carl was actually very impressive last night.
Im confident Gonzalez's undoubted future success will bear this out.
We could well be saying in a decade time "Wow - Frampton won 11 of 12 against the great Gonzalez"

Tbh I'm biased lol but I just watched the Frampton fight again and I'm less concerned about Frampton's performance than i was last night. The first knockdown was more a case of being knocked off balance after being caught cold. He smiled with embarrassment. If you watch the second knockdown he bends his knees to avoid the shot, gets clipped and his knees are too close to the canvas to avoid touching down. It certainly wasn't a case of his knees buckling from the power of the shot like I thought it was when I watched it last night. The first round aside it was actually a good performance. That being said I feel he has maybe lost a wee bit of that invincibility that he had. I'm unsure about Quigg performance. He was like a rabbit in the headlights in the first round but he deserves a lot of credit for the way he got rid of kiko after hurting him.

I thought we'd be saying the same about the Gonzalez that Ricky Burns beat. He really impressed me, real talented fighter and I thought he'd make waves.

But he's suffered two career defeats now where he's refused to see the fight out, so you have to question his grit.

No questioning the Gonzalez of last nights grit though, he was one tough fella!

Of course frampton dominated. He fought a guy who wasn't even ranked in the top 10. He was expected to look impressive against a carefully selected opponent.

"Framptons Gonzo" wont be like that fella Im sure. He has some serious punch resistance -hardly marked up, and with his big frame, big heart, great engine all giving him huge room to fill out he could easily have success over several divisions - and also hes only 22. One to watch.

    Absolute rubbish.
I doubt we'll hear much more from Gonzalez.
    I presume you're joking.

Lets no beat about the bush here it wasnt Framptons greatest performance. It wa almost as if he was caught between 2 fight plans. However Gonzalez was far better than folk expected he fought an extremely mature fight for someone 22 (typical mexican tho!) i dont know how far he will go but he certainly wont be considered the 11th ranked mexican in a year or two. I still favour Framton against Quigg tho purely from styles there is very little between them but i think Framptons feet win him the fight.

Thigs that Frampton has to look at were that Gonzalez inside game looked a little sharper which is surprising given his longs arms so Frampton needs to look at that. His head/lateral movement could have been better also especially when trading shots.

Quigg will have scared quite a few in the division with tha stoppage tho .... Quigg showed he is more than capable of stopping ANY fighter in that division with his size and power.

I've always slightly preferred Quigg over Frampton. If they ever do meet (unlikely if you ask me) it'll be close either way though. Can't see it being a boring fight either

Now bearing in mind you've said that Scott's been fighting bin men for a long while, you have to admit you thought Gonzalez was a poor choice, eh Len?

Just because he made Carl look awful doesn't make him any good, it just makes Carl less impressive.

Frampton v Quigg needs to be made!

I'm a fan of Frampton but it was hard to listen to Frampton's excuses about the weight and 'softness' of the ring mat. I thought he won the fight comfortably though. Great boxing but his footwork wasn't what it is normally and his slowness was the cause of the knocked downs. Gonzalez was a great opponent for Frampton's American debut and seems like a great fighter. These Mexican's are tough.

I've been a critic of Quigg and I still am. Excellent uppercut but Martinez was very poor. His movement is predictable which played into Joe Gallagher's tactics. Quigg would have been working on that uppercut throughout his camp. Reminded me of Smyth-Buckland. Quigg's windmill of punches after the first knockdown didn't look great and a lot was wasted.

Controlled boxing (Frampton) instead of plodding forward (Martinez) is the way to beat Quigg and this was shown in round 1. Quigg was totally outboxed
