I disagree. I thought that despite all that swarming, a lot of those rounds could have gone either way, depending on how one scores rounds.
Either way it was pretty close. Leonard finished the stronger. Duran won but Leonard made him work like hell for the win. Great fight.
I admitted that I'm in the minority on this earlier in the thread. And as I mentioned to you in the Pintor-Zarate thread, I use my own eye***** instead of the conventional wisdom.
I agree with that. Close, entertaining fight. Gets underrated because everything seems to think it was some kind of wipeout.
It provides a consensus of opinion. Some on here feel Leonard won. Is this backed up by the scores from ringside? Durans effective aggression made him the clear winner
Wow welcome to the clueless error where cherry picking guys are celebrated and legends are overrated! Op go away
No doubt in my mind that Duran inflicted the more damage and was better overall in Montreal, but since fights are scored round by round and I wouldn't give Duran any 10-8 rounds it's far from inconceivable to give the decision to Leonard. There were enough close rounds. I have Duran winning by a point or two personally, but as almost always the case in such close fights I can see how someone would have SRL just eeking it out. Wouldn't agree, but with a round by round scoring it's not absurd in any way.
Duran manhandled Leonard and took the win with ease, plastering Leonard from post to post all fight long. Leonard won some rounds, and was competitive. But was never even close to being in control of the fight. Clear win for Duran. Great effort in the loss from Leonard
Leonard fought Durans game and paid the price in fight one. I am sure however he would have been Durans master if he fought his typical smart fight. I say this as a long time Duran fan going back to his lt weight days.
