Breaking news: boxer says he is the best fighter in his division.

    *crickets*

He's a ****ing fighter FFS, boxing is an ego sport. Of course he's gonna say that. Or would you rather he take the ***** option like BJS and say Rigo would beat him and Frampton in the same night?

I know, im just replying to a post that claimed Quigg is so humble and doesn't go around saying he's the best in the division - which he does.

frampton has a lot to prove.

Last night he was against a guy who knew what he was doing, frampton was so naive swinging with his right (such a slow punch) and a world class operator can read it and put in hooks before it lands.

He did get up twice and use the plan B and win the fight. So fair play to him. The mexican was a great fighter definitely 'not the 11th best bantamweight in mexico'. Had a perfect frame for boxing also.

It does raise questions on a fighter a thought was going all the way to the top

Quigg i think is going over and above his talent - rocky fielding style. Who knows how high he goes.

I think Quigg's pinnacle was last night. I mean, if he and Carl don't meet next who will he face? Rigo?:nut

The cynic in me believes this whole 'weight' thing with Carl could be a bit of a ploy. Yeah they're trying to excuse a poor performance (although personally I thought he adapted well and boxed beautifully most of the fight), but maybe they're trying to play Hearn's hand and say 'we'll only stay at super-bantam for one more fight if you give us x amount of money'.

Just a thought. Either way I don't see Frampton moving up any time soon.

Yeah I kinda think so aswell which is why Frampton should give the fans the fight we want now.

If he goes in with a guy who knows how to fight again but a bit better he might not come out so unscathed.

I think he wants to fight like mcguigan but he's not mcguigan. Still think he's one of the few british fighter who could make it to the big fights hatton style

Put it this way Carls poor first round now opens up fights with Santa Cruz , Quigg and Rigo. I think Carl fights Santa Cruz next if Santa Cruz wins easy for Al Haymon to make that fight. Quigg fight will happen think Carl preparation for his next fight will be totally different and we will see a more focused Frampton so whoever he fights will get the best Frampton he has a point to prove. Maybe it was the pressure of fighting in the US for the first time or the cutting weight but he still won the fight easy fighting off his jab. For a small fighter his jab worked a dream on Saturday.

Frampton took his opponent way too lightly. He said in an interview befofehand that he would be dissapointed if he didnt knock him out within 6 rounds.

I think the occasion got to frampton, he had a lot of pressure and expectations of him, plenty of fighters have gone to the states and froze, it happens.

I was watching it in my local boozer with the sound off and could see straight away frampton had a lot of nervous tension, his timing was off and he looked a bit lost.

He could've been in with anyone that night and they would've put him down.

Fair play to him for coming through, I hope he can stay at the weight though, lots of big fights out there for him.

Regardless of who you are fighting the pressure to perform to a big american crowd is still a big deal

Very poor judgement calling Gonzalez a nobody???? :verysad
Gonzalez is very good indeed . He would possibly beat Kiko or Quigg today IMO...and at 22 he will only get better. Hopefully his future success will bear this out.:bbb

Big American crowd? It was an afternoon fight in a small hall with no atmosphere.

Hardly a scary experience. Let's stop making excuses for a poor performance, eh?

No surprise to see you talking a load of ****.

When's Carl going to find his courage and finally face Scott?
