Johnson spoils his way to a decision loss. A boring chessmatch of a fight with neither man taking many risks.
Johnson was a boxing master fighting as a black man in the harshest of times. Hard to pick against him at his best
Why? Both are well conditioned, and throw a lot of punches. In Vitali's case, he can score stoppages late. Only those with good can do this with regularity.
My pick, Vitali via TKO inside 8 rounds, but it really depends on how much Vitali presses it. Johnson's game would be out of business.
Even though Chris Arreola was nowhere close to being stopped at 8 rounds?? And Kevin Johnson went the distance completely unhurt. Interesting.
I'll match Vitali's KO% vs just about anyone. 87% Kevin Johnson lost 12-0, and ran and covered up for 95% of the fight. Arreola didn't win a round and was stopped. Jack Johnson would be in the same boat. I suppose if he did nothing but play defense he could last some time too.
I have real reservations about both brothers stamina in the old 15 round distance in the lewis fight I thought vitali was starting to look he was struggling stamina wise . Saying that I doubt johnson make vitali fight at any great pace so it may be a mute point in this match up
Are you aware Vitali has ranked very high in the punch stats in 12 round fights? In many cases he throws more than Frazier or Marciano. And Vitali doesnt stand still, he moves around a lot. I think hes be even better as a 15 round fighter, because he often has more than his opponents past round 10. Lets take a look at his punch stats in the distance fights. 727 punches thrown vs Briggs ( http://www.***********.com/forums/view.php?pg=klitschko-briggs-compubox 1,013 thrown vs. K. Johnson ( over 84 punches a round ) http://www.***********.com/forums/view.php?pg=klitschko-briggs-compubox
Unless the fighter has done 15 rounds you cannot claim he could go 15 rounds. 12 vs 15 rounds may not look like much for the casual observer but it's a huge jump in not only conditioning but, fight plans and the ability to pace oneself.
I disagree somewhat. It depends on the fighter. If Frazier or Marciano had never gone past 12, would you question them being able to go 15? Fans forget the old saying that fights don't start until the 3rd round in the 15 round era. A fighter could let up a bit or start slower if needed. In almost all cases those with good stamina in 12 rounds will also have good stamina in 15 rounds. Those who are active in rounds 10-12 tend to have the best stamina today.
This is a joke right? Vitali would be apprehended for manslaughter after the fight. This is a mismatch. Vitali destroys a completely overmathced Johnson in 1-2 rounds.
Johnson was an ATG fighter with ATG abilities. Anyone thinking any hwt champion has an easy fight against the best Jack Johnson has seriously diminished faculties. At his best Johnson would be a formidable opponent for anyone anywhere at any time.
