Well, Ortiz and Guerrero did beat Berto decisively and they were both top 5 Welters at the time. Ortiz was the reigning WBC champ. Baldo was the recognized champ. Berto is **** fight, but I don't know how you can knock a guy for taking on top 5 guys in his division.

Yeh,right.Cant be worse than way past prime, gun shy and injured also Pac.

Tho with that being said,Floyd is past it also,he struggled with Maidana big time the first time around and got a gift.

Floyd always has to have the cards stacked in his favour

    Maidana gloves
    Guerrero is a joke
    Berto is a joke

    Khan he won't touch

    Pacquiao he waited out

amazing really that even with Khans sub-par performances against algieri & J.Diaz Floyd still is tentative.

He wants to beat marciano record with easy fights. Not the way to do it, should fight someone decent. Bit embarrassing.

Algieri is better than Rios

Also have to remember Arum had a limited number of opponents available for Pac & Pac isn't exactly the best advised as to who he is fighting (doesn't know doesn't care just wants a decent paycheck form papa Arum)

on the other hand Haymon has plenty of fighters & Floyd can pretty much fight anyone he wants.

Algieri would outbox Berto and Rios would knock him out.

Berto...really Floyd? He's a C fighter at best. That's what's wrong with boxing. Everyone says Floyd's the best. And he is great, but how can you be the best if you don't clean out the top guys? Anyone in this room can find someone to fight that we know we'll beat. That's not heart, it's not a challenge, and it's not fair to the few true fans that love boxing. I'll not turn this into another pac may debate, BUT when Pac fought Bradley the first time Tim was young and undefeated, and a hell of a boxer. Even Algeri was undefeated. When was the last time Floyd's done that? 2007? versus Hatton? To be honest I would LOVE to see Berto beat him. Can you imagine? (Does anyone else think Berto looks like a ninja turtle)?

I wouldn't argue it tbh, algieri has a good style to beat rios. But pac was coming off a devastating KO and at that time rios wasn't a bad opponent. I thought algieri lost to provoddy & then he got the pac fight... he's also just lost to khan. Wasn't a great match-up.

ahhh limited opponents, badly advised bla bla stop the excuses.Algieri was a shocking matchup at the time, as is berto.

I honestly think what were seeing here is a guy, who at 38 understands he no longer has the pace, speed, strength to hang with some of the younger guys. He knows it's coming to and end and he's trying to take an easy fight possibly before he faces manny again - a guy who is also up in age.
