Boxing is too, but MMA is terrible. These young guys don't realize that they're not invulnerable. The damage they are doing to their body could be cumulative. It's destructive. The pain they may have later in their life is just not worth it. Get an education. Don't get involved in this sport. Hopefully, God spares them. I wouldn't wish long term pain on anybody. Protect your body. You only get one.
I'm a fan of boxing, but I don't want anyone on here to participate in the sport. I'm trying to help people understand the reality of this sport. Things don't last forever...until they do. When you're young, you think you'll always feel the way you do, until you receive a devastating injury and your life changes dramatically. I know of people that had everything anyone could want. Millions of dollars, autonomy, youth, but a back injury has wrecked their lives, and it was an injury sustained from pride. Be careful with pride. Sometimes, it's not worth it.
MMA is just as dangerous as hockey, football and boxing. Getting checked up againt a hockey ring probably hurts just as bad as getting knocked out. Getting tackled by 300lbs + men doesn't feel too good either.
Look, I'm sorry, but this is a skewed, narrow view. Some guys in boxing and MMA would be mugging you on your way home if they never got a chance to channel their energy in a positive direction. Others would have been dirt poor and flipping burgers or working the doors at clubs. Instead, they are well-paid and admired by many, including myself. Injuries happen in all facets of life. The number of times that I nearly got taken out in a car crash make the risks of a fighting sport pale in comparison. Besides, training your body to its maximum capacity can only be a good thing. Your chances of living a long and healthy life are exponentially increased by vigorous exercise and a strong mindset. Hell, I can't think of anything more damaging to one's health than having a desk job and pounding donuts and colas all day, but I don't hear folks crusading against that? I say, go boxers, go MMA'rs. We look up to you :good
The best guys in boxing don't take shots and they get paid millions. MMA, GSP looks pretty good for his $25m. I doubt he is worried.
True, but Boxers are worse off because you can only fight with your fists. At least if things get a bot too much in an MMA fight there's the possibility of scoring a takedown on your opponent and biding sometime for yourself. And if you get knocked down you don;t have a standing 8-count, which is VERY deadly, IMO. Even though MMA has more variables/ways of ending a fight, it doesn't always end as bad as you might think it could.
Idiotic? Maybe. But BORING to watch, for sure. I cannot for the life of me why anyone would want to watch a couple of guys - or girls - roll around on the ground for five minutes. It's just plain dull.
Bernard Hopkins. Wlad. Ward. Mayweather. These guys are the most boring in this sport. Going on excitement factor, they are 2/10... And that's being generous!
The most boring boxing match featuring any of those named contains FAR more excitement than any MMA match where the "action" is horizontal. At least guys like Mayweather, Ward and Wlad MOVE around and throw punches. I don't care how much you dress it up with WWE-like macho posturing -- once a MMA fight hits the ground, it's snooze time for the fans.:yep
TJ is right about what he is saying MMA and boxing are crazy sports if you compete on the top levels, you are going to get HURT. I am not saying its not worth it,, that's a personal choice, I stopped boxing because of concussions. They are both brutal sports, its why we watch them.
No it doesn't, so stop lying. Look at ANY of Wlad or Nards clinch-fests. It's "snooze time" as soon as Floyd gets in the ring due to him being all mouth.
