The best HOMEGROWN BRITISH heavyweights of all-time ?

I think you're right. I also think Tyson Fury could end up near or at the top as well. If he beats Wlad in his next fight, Fury basically jumps to the top that night.

That said, I think people are sleeping on Henry Akinwande. The guy lost four fights in his entire career, and two of them came when he was in his 40s.

His only straight up loss is to Oliver McCall, who scored a final round KO.

The disqualification against Lewis mars Akinwande's entire career. But he easily defeated plenty of ranked heavyweights.

Hell, he fought more like Wladimir Klitschko than Vitali did. And Akinwande had a better chin than Wlad.

I don't know which British heavyweight I'd take as a lock to defeat Akinwande.

Tommy has a lot of losses but also some quality wins at world level. He def has a case.

all this silly talk about Farr, of course as a novice fighter he will lose to good seasoned top fighters and likewise at the latter end too.

also some of these men were very good fighters, it's quite incorrect to disregard them, namely Jack Casey and Frank Moody and some tough durable others too.

Yes the Best Farr, is 'probably' the Best British HW.

 

I was there to watch the worse fight there has ever been: Akinwande/Nelson. If I see something worse, I will leave the sport, that fight was that bad. So purely on that, Akinwande should be disqualified.

Ultimately this sport is about winning, but paradoxically, Akinwande broke so many bridges with his awful style, nobody won, as his career shows.

 

You do realise Farr weighed around 7 stone and was aged 14/15 when Evan Lane was beating him over and over and over again? :roll:

 

There are 64 million people in the UK. That's a large country, and next to soccer ( futbol ) boxing rates as a popular sport.

Ireland has less than 5 million people and right now has three alphabet champions

If you have to ignore nearly 40 losses by a guy, and only look at two or three years in a 30 year career to make a case, and much of that case is HE LOST to the names he fought, there isn't much of a case to be made.

There have been far better and many more successful British heavyweights than Tommy Farr.
