I know you are thinking from your heart and not your head, but there is no way Jack Dempsey is as accomplished a finisher or puncher as joe Louis. Look at who joe Louis beat, and look at who Jack Dempsey beat. The difference in competition is astronomical. Louis beat and knocked out much much better fighters. Louis was also clearly the more talented fundamentally sound versatile puncher of the two. Dempseys combinations don't even come close to comparing to Louis'

Louis was scientific and composed. Dempsey was reckless wild and careless

You overrate Dempsey as a finisher. Anyone could finish big unskilled Oafs like Willard and Fulton. 185lb men did knock out Fulton in 1 round not named Dempsey.

Plenty of inferior men to Marciano went several rounds with Dempsey. Dempsey was no joe Louis. Don't forget, Rocky will be hitting Dempsey back. Think Dempsey can take marcianos best stuff?

Rocky has the stamina strength durability and heart to survive dempseys onslaught and the power to knock Dempsey out cold. Rocky weathers the storm and takes over the fight after round 8, he shows Dempsey what it's like to throw 110 power punches in round 13 of a grueling championship fight. An exhausted beaten down Dempsey takes a Suzy Q right to the head and doesn't get up

Fleischer stated " you cannot compare Marciano to Dempsey except as a puncher"

Anyone Dempsey could hit he took out. He would hit Marciano.

Even though footage of Langford,Jeanette,McVey,is lacking in quality
and quantity that us as fight fans wish wasn't the case( There's nothing
more annoying then listening to someone equate jerky film that's missing
frame-rates with a fighters skill as being primitive) I feel any of those 3
so have the skill to compete with Rocky..It seems most people that saw
Corbett and Tunney in their primes picked Corbett over Gene...Corbett
was an iconclast..He was the first HW champion whose strength was the result
of Gym training and popularized things like shadow boxing, pulleys,etc...
According to Ali in is self titled book his best fighting weight is 207
which is not much over 200 ...
It cracks me up people say a 190 lb guy cant hit as hard as a 250 lb guy..
If thats the case Foreman at 275 should hit way harder then 225lb George hit
    ..

Thats like saying the ability to hit a homerun a long way is solely dependent on the strength and size of the batter .Well how come everyone of big Mark McGuires home runs didn't travel twice as far as Mantles..

Fighting is the drawback sport in just cause the athletes are better ,doesn't
mean the fighters are better ,because conditions make great fighters

All the strength training and scientific knowledge does no good if someone crumbles under one punch..Look how many good athletes a lazy guy like Galento knocked out..

Rocky had a good assessmentt of his advantages and disadvantages. He knew he had reach disadvantages, thats why he trained hard , He knew he had to keep pounding away until his opponent folded..He knew he couldn't depend on being lucky with one punch to the jaw..He needed to hit anywhere he could get to..
a arm a elbow a finger were all valid targets ..Rocky had a temper in the ring
ALL THE GREAT SUB 200 LB GUYS BEFORE ROCKY'S ERA HAD A BETTER CHANCE THEN ANY SUB 200 LB GUYS AFTER HIS ERA OF BEATING HIM

Plenty of inferior men to Dempsey went several rounds with Marciano, and some like Applegate and Lowry went the distance Lowry twice. Everything Marciano has, Dempsey has, plus reach size, footspeed , hand speed and, plus a cut resistant skin.

When he's only asked to hit the likes of a fat, amateur in Willard or a overblown lightheavy in Carpentier or a sick Billy Miske, that's not really saying a lot.

He hit Meehan. He hit Tunney. He hit Gibbons (low a lot, too). They did all right not getting taken out.
