And even those guys he beat, barring MAYBE Cotto and Hatton, rank ahead of Calzaghe.

What kind of idiot thinks that Calzaghe comes anywhere near Pacman in terms of greatness:lol: This place is ridiculous at times:patsch

Id say Cotto ranks above Calzaghe.

4 weight world champion with a much better resume.

    Yeah you're right.

So the last 25 years we have, off the top of my head and in no particular order

    Mayweather
    Jones
    Pacquiao
    Lewis
    Hopkins
    Holyfield
    Toney
    Whitaker
    Berrera
    Morales
    Wlad
    Cotto
    JMM
    Trinidad
    De La Hoya
    Mosley
    Lopez
    Winky
    Castillo
    Wlad
    Gonzalez

Who should all rank above Calzaghe

And then there are solid cases for guys like Froch, Ward, Bowe, Tszyu, Hamed, John, Bradley, Michalczewski, even Chaves Snr and Azumah Nelson were still active and racking up some good wins during this time so you could easily include them too.

There are probably a few more I've missed out.

You can dissect anybody's resume but Calzaghe's resume definitely is not superior than Mayweather's or Pacquiao's for starters so it's a nope from me too.

the thing with undefeated fighters is that they have a strong tendency to cherrypick their opponents just to protect that "0". the mentality of being undefeated makes them think they are the best but do not go beyond their comfort zone to challenge themselves and prove it. unlike those with losses who continue to challenge themselves and push further outside their comfort zones. pac fought from the lower weights getting losses and continually moving up and fighting great opposition on foreign soil. pac should have stopped fighting at the lightweights but he still moved up to welter weight fighting bigger guys when his natural weight is just of a junior welter. you cannot say that with calzaghe. he fought most of his fights at home with plenty of lower caliber fighters and only went out of his turf to fight jones and hopkins when they were past primes and he still had the advantage in speed. even though hopkins is still winning doesn't mean it increases his legacy. he didn't dominate hopkins but got knocked down/s in the fight and they just gave him the win because of activity and not of inflicted solid hits in a very close decision that could be disputed.

When it's all said and done I don't understand you limit it to the last 25 years! Super Joe Calzaghe the great has to be ranked up there with fellow Italian Rocky Marciano as the greatest ever. Their undefeated records don't lie. We know Mayweather is glad he and Calzaghe were not in the same weight division.

Tell that to Jeff Lacy, the emerging American boxing superstar whom he beat like a disobedient dog.

American do you think that he would be rated lower or higher?

There are so many threads on this guy on here it's unreal, I can't figure out why but I'm curious as to whether it's regional bias OR you think he was lucky to have a perfect record when guys like Jones & Hopkins don't OR do you think he's the 168 GOAT?

One things for sure he stirs up emotions on here like no one else.

He's the best at ever at 168lbs for sure, but you can't rank him that highly as an ATG because of the level of his opposition. He didn't really get going until towards the end of his career besides the win against Eubank.

    Much much higher.

Here is Ring Editor Doug Fischers take on it:

Joe Calzaghe (underrated and hated) – The athleticism and ring generalship of The Pride of Wales was always undeniable. He just had the wrong skin color, the wrong promoter, and came from the wrong part of the world as far as American hardcore fans (who dubbed him “Cal-Slappy”) were concerned. Had Joe been an African American who fought his career on HBO he would have been in everybody’s pound-for-pound top five and fools would argue that he deserves “all-time great” status.
