Joe Calzaghe retired 46-0 (32) in 2008. Get over it. Fans & haters; quit trolling!

Fair play, and well said.

All the talk of that he wasn't from the US or that he wasn't black is taking the easy way out. Put a little thought into and look at the **** that a guy like Mayweather gets, a guy whose resume dwarfs Calzaghe's in every way and then realize he is both American and black. It's easier than considering that Calzaghe, despite all his accomllishments, feasted on the seriously low hanging fruit for a long, long time in boxing years.

Look at the guff that RJJ gets. Look at the **** that a guy like Kelly Pavlik got for his competition for a while, that Peter Quillin gets, that Wilder gets and consider that these guys have done it for only a few years. Calzaghe did it as a titlist for a decade.

Calzaghe is both underrated and overrated at the same time. His ambition never matched his skills, his resume doesn't match his talent, but at the same time, he was vastly better than many make him out to be, and the most accomplished smw ever.

Americans need to learn, that just because you hype your fighters to the gills, does not make them good :hi:

 

Calzaghe was indeed a very special fighter, one of his best attributes which I think often goes overlooked or isn't as obvious to see is his ability to adapt during fights. This is one of the abilities that separates good from truly great fighters.

 

You know there is something wrong with American nostalgia and Hype, when they think Sugar Ray Robinson can move up multiple weight classes and knock out kovalev, or a natural middleweight in GGG

 

If he was American he'd be rated higher by Americans, IMO. I can't guess how it is in the UK because I've never been.

 

Well he's very underrated in the UK too, if you talk in terms of publicity.

The likes of Khan, Hatton, Haye, Froch even Audley Harrison got more exposure than Joe. Likewise the Benn, Eubank, Collins, Bruno, Lewis' before him.

 

I don't know much about Calzaghe, which is why I never discuss him. I do plan on researching him though. One thing I noticed, is that is sounds like his fans and Hopkins fans flame on like Mayweather/Pacquiao fans.:scaredas:

 

Hopkins fans are mad that a Brittle handed, washed up, old Calzaghe was able to outbox Hopkins ears off and than retire in to the sunset. Calzaghe had nothing left, thus he retired, Hopkins went on to win a world championship afterwards. Hopkins had more left in the tank than Calzaghe, and he could not beat him :deal Hopkins was older than Calzaghe, but still had more left in the tank than Joe.
