El Terrible Slams Floyd (Again) For Cherrypicking (True Words From an ATG)

I would add:

- Cotto was past prime

- Maidana arguably won that fight. I had it a draw.

- Runhugger ducked Paul Williams who poses a stylistic threat, just like Margarito.

- Pacquiao also had a torn rotator cuff.

Floyd is a cherry picker. Morales 1. comes to the ring to FIGHT 2. Takes on everyone.

 

^^I dont like floyd facing berto but the thing is this fight is on free tv so it isnt like a ppv fight.

 

Morales was brave enough since most of his fights he force fighters to wear the lightest gloves in boxing.

 

Much respect to Morales career but, 2 of his best wins are vs PBF leftover's.
Can't be cherry picking too much if a top 5/10 win for an ATG Morales isn't in the top 10/15 for Mayweather.

 

I believe Morales' comments about not trying to be racist was in regards to him believing that the fight is only interesting to Black people and not Mexican's. That's just how I interpret it. Anyway, criticizing the Berto fight is perfectly legit in my view. It does appear to be a complete mismatch and a waste of time. However, I believe it's quite a stretch to say that Mayweather never takes a risk in terms of his quality of opposition. Looking at the guys he fought, I'm not sure how they all fall into Berto's category of not being a risk.

Many people on this forum absolutely adore Morales. But let's compare their body of work. Look at Morales' top 5 opponents and compare it to Mayweather's top 5 opponents. Extend that list out to top 10 for both. If you believe Morales is the type of fighter that did continually take risk, it is because he took on better opposition, or because he was noticeably less talented than Floyd and therefore could take on a bigger risk while taking on a lesser opponent? Barrera, Pacquiao, Zaragoza, Maidana, and Garica are all the names that stand out on Morales' ledger. While the standout opponents on Floyd's ledger include, Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, Alvarez, Maidana, and Pacquiao.

It'd be logical if people dissected every other boxer's opponents like they do Mayweather, perhaps they'd learn that you can't shine a light intensely on one guy's CV and not hold everybody else up to those intense standards.
