if you had seen him before turning pro you would have defo thought he would reach the top end of the sport maybe not world champion but defo euro level at least. where billy changed him for the better was that his amateur coach (the legendary rab bannon) just didnt seem to have the same trust from ricky that they had during his amateur days. when billy took over he tightened up ricky and got him back to using his attributes, nothing fancy but using what he had talent wise to the fullest, he also only really had ricky and could spend countless hours on just ricky which helped massively. i am not saying that billy didnt play a big part but i am saying that there was 4 factors in ricky becoming world champion, billy, w arren management, weakness of division and rickys attributes. if you take 1 of them away i dont think ricky would have got as far as he did and we would not be having this conversation but if you are implying that it is only because of billy that he reached these heights then im sorry but i have to massively disagree, imo ricky would have been world champion with any coach that he truly believed in ie peter harrison but billy managed to get that trust and it has worked out very well for both parties!!
yup i made that post out .... im from scotland chief ... London slang is completely new to me !! I agree i think Brook finds him 12 rnds is a long time. Ther is nothing more Khan can do in regards to his chin, he has tried buling up the legs but that didnt work and now he has tried to bulk up his neck to an insane level but hasnt really worked. He just has to be smarter and stay more focused in the fight once he gets tired. His movement is the only thing that can save his chin and as i said once he tires he stays in the posket too long at times and thats when Brook will detonate. Although if Brook catches him flush at any stage he goes. I hope it goes the way i predicted ... Kahn schooling him for 8/9 rounds then Brook explodes on him and stops him whilst being behind on the cards. Would be a great spetacle
Na im not saying it was all down to Billy at all bud, i was just stating that he couldnt be hopeless is all he must be at least competent to help Ricky take the world title.
ive never stated that billy was useless mate, i think he and ricky clicked well but as mentioned it was more than just that billy turned him into a world beater. billy has a few fighters on the way up and if he can achieve anything like what he did with ricky by getting david brophy, lewis ritson or ross henderson titles then i think he will get much more respect.
Yeah i know you didnt say it some other folk have tho. I am doubtful any of those fighters have the ability to take a world title so i doubt it but if Billy can churn a title out one of them i will be v impressed
david brophy: i havent been massively impressed by him but billy has stated that he is ready and has been doing some quality sparring so he might be ready to show us all soon! lewis ritson: billy really rates this kid but i havent seen anything of him so i couldnt make a judgement on him. ross henderson: imo he wont go very far, he has been badly exposed at amateur level and although i would like the big guy to pick up a title im afraid that him vs cornish for a scottish title is as far as either gets.

If Tyson see's round 6/7 I'd be surprised. His "prep" for this fight has been terrible (in terms of opponents etc). Wlad is going to break him.
Don't waste any more time on him/her/it Del. One of the few unfortunates in life who only find solace in negativity and bitterness. Couldn't even answer when you asked him which boxers he actually does like. More deserving of pity than anger.
Usually yeah he is like that but occasionaly he can be completely fine to talk boxing and can actually talk sense when he chooses to. If he did it all the time he would be one of the best posters on this site to be fair ! there are defo a few worse than him who genuinely never actually talk boxing or give their honest opinions. Im just a guy trying to skive in work :nono and talk boxing not waste my time filtering out the trolling.
