I don't see Roland as having the kind of Power to make these guys wilt. And with fairly big deficit in height and reach its unlikely that he'd outbox them. He was also known as being more of a defensive fighter which is probably the wrong way to get these guy's number. I see Biggs and Williams taking decisions here.
This is going to seem like a knock on Marciano ,but two guys whom Tyson brutalized are picked to beat a guy who went life and death with Rocky in one fight ,and was 7-3,6-4,5-5 on the scorecards when he was stopped by Rocky in the 11th rd of their second fight?:think
Lastarza is only remembered because he fought Marciano. He was a non-entity otherwise. He loses badly to both of these guys.
Styles. I'm surprised LaStarza was ahead in their 2nd fight ! Also, he fought out of the Bronx, NYC, at MSG etc. and compiled a carefully managed winning streak, so he got the favourable newspaper coverage that brings. I agree. To carry on the Tyson/Marciano comparisons, he's Mitch Green (although no one ever claimed Green deserved the decision!)
While I agree that Biggs and Williams should be favored its only fair to point out that Lastarza was a legitimate top contender who recorded wins over Rex Layne, Dan Bucceroni, and Cesar Brion. He was also regarded as one of the best defensive fighters of his time.
Lastarza wasn't even one of rockys top 5 best opponents so what's the point? You guys make it seem like Rocky didn't beat much better fighters than lastarza
Lastarza was a good defensive fighter. He was just small. But he showcased skills. If he had come along in the 1910s and 20s he would have done a lot better against those fighters who carried there hands low..Lastarza had good modern fundamentals
