He avenged that loss in spectacular fashion, which is more than I can say for Wlad.

Is a worse fighter, fought weaker competition, wouldn't have done as well in Lewis era - but you would still rank him ahead on longevity?

Out of interest where would you place Dariusz Michalczewski and Sven Ottke then? :D

That has nothing to do with the subject matter. Holyfield vs Byrd.

Pre prime Waldo had a 40-2 record during Lewis's prime years during which some claim to be "the second best era ever" brazebly. Let's look at some of Waldo's wins from that era.

    McCline. World title fight.

Ray Mercer. World title fight over one of the legends of that era. Wlad destroyed him.

Botha. World title fight. This same version was deemed good enough for Lewis to defend his belt against, the apparent 3rd best HW of all time. Waldo destroyed him.

Shuffurd. World title fight. Destroyed him.

    Derrick Jefferson. World title fight

Chris Byrd. World title fight. Elite fighter of the era and has wins over ATG's Vitali and the same version of Holy as Lewis.

    Monte Barrett.

    Bostice.

Paea Wolfgram. Olympic silver medal winning hero.

Phil Jackson. This same version was deemed good enough for Lewis to defend his belt against, the apparent 3rd best HW of all time. Waldo destroyed him.

Alex Schulz. Legend of the era. Robbed blind of wins over several ATG's. Waldo destroyed him and the only man to do so.

that's because he consistently fights below the level lewis fougth at.

so much lower, that the time he tried to step up, to a failure from the lewis era (by then shot2shyteand retired), the absolute lower rung of the lewis era inhis worst shape ever, he got wiped out in seconds, literally.

no wonder hes not getting koed flush. hes not stepping up in order to do so. should he have stepped up above retired corrie, jeez, hes getting wiped out in round1, several times.

That's speculation. You can't definitively prove any of that... I for one think Wlad handles pretty much anyone from Lennox's era with relative ease except for obviously Lennox himself.

Difference is Wlad has been the clear consensus #1 for years, has taken on all comers.. You can't say the same about Ottke, and Michalczewski . Move along.

Bowe, Ruddock and Evander would have mopped the floor with Wlad...

Bowe who's prime was over as soon as it began(and Lennox never fought him so really irrelevant) Ruddock was overrated, and Lennox waited until Evander was old until fighting him. I'd definitely pick Wlad over that version no question.

Ruddock was too dumb and ignored his jab and other skills that he once had.

He's obviously very dangerous against Wlad, but I'd have him the underdog.

Bowe's had a lot of defensive flaws, particularly at long range. He was actually most effective up close despite his size and range, but could fight outside too with his terrific jab (often underused) and overhand right. I think that overhand right would be the difference. The opposite of the Ruddock case, where in this one, Wlad is the dangerous underdog.

Holyfield definitely would have problems with the size, jab, right hand, range of Wlad, but I think Holyfield eventually gets to him and stops him.
