Golovkin on Andre Ward: I Want Him, but at 164 lb

Dragged and forced are virtually the same thing. Tainted victory? Sure. But he can't force Dawson to do anything.

 

Froch has shown legitimate one punch KO power @ 168lbs - while OTOH, Bum-love-kin needs a 164lb catchweight.

How many 168lb'er has the Triple Duck one punch KO'ed?

 

My logic is sound but then again I would say that

I didn't say Ward had to do anything, I said Ward and his fans can't take issue with the suggestion.
If Ward really wants GGG then he might have to give some ground.
He might have to be the one who is most uncomfortable at the weight agreed.

Ward did benefit from Dawson being at 168. but Dawson came down to make the fight happen and yes that was Dawsons choice so why couldn't Ward do something similar with GGG if he really wants it?

164 is a starting point, people are hammering GGG for using a strategy (catchweight) Ward himself has used. Maybe even 166 with a rehydration clause, who knows, but Ward has fought catchweights were he didn't have to either move or be the one uncomfortable.

Ward made the catchweight of 172 against Smith, that was Wards request. So if that wasn't for Wards benefit why 172? and if he can't make 168 anymore then why is Ward saying he'll fight GGG at 168?

Makes no sense to me, if Ward can make 168 for GGG then he could have made it for a very small SMW in Smith. So he must have been benefitting.

 

Is there anyone on the Triple Duck's resume as good as Abraham?

That still doesn't make any sense. You'd also have to completely ignore the fact that Golovkin said he'd fight anyone at 168 and tried to fight Froch and Chavez Jr at 168.

At the end of the day, that's Ward prerogative. He can agree to a CW if he wants. However, he doesn't have to drain himself to prove he wants the fight. Golovkin is the one who is supposedly fighting guys like Monroe because he can't get a big name. Well that argument holds a lot less water if he's telling guys like Ward he has to come to 164 even though Golovkin says he can fight at 168.

Again, came out said he was willing to come down to 168. That's not something Ward asked him to do. And again, your own thought process is more applicable to Golovkin. He tried to fight Chavez and Froch at the full SMW weight limit. Why not do the same for Ward if he really wants the fight? Why ask for a weight Ward hasn't made in a decade?

We're talking about CWs and rehydration clauses here. There hasn't been one fighter on here who has escaped criticism for suggesting such tactics. It makes it worse that Golovkin just tried to another fight at 168 like a month ago.

Ward had been off for a while and wanted to see how he felt at the higher weight. Paul Smith didn't even make the weight, so trying to suggest that it benefited Ward more than Smith to fight at 172 rather than 168 flies in the face of reality.

The small SMW who couldn't make the 172 lb. limit. Smith was like 2 pounds over as well. Let's not get ridiculous here. You're saying Smith, who couldn't even make 172, was at similar disadvantage fighting at 172 instead of 168 as Ward would be fighting at 164 rather than 168. If that makes sense to you, then we can just agree to disagree.
