He got a 'slap on the wrist' ban, and then had a number of big money fights there after; and has at least a person feeling sorry for him.

Luis Resto served three years in prison and was not allowed to box again. He admitted his wrong doing, admitted he should not have done it, and has gone along his punishment.

Both are terrible cases of the 'dark side' of the sport, but without wanting to defend Resto of his actions; I do observe a paradox...

Yeah, as much as I detest Margarito, I wanted them to stop the fight.

If we're going with high profile great fighters then Pacquiao-Barrera I comes to mind.

When was the last time we saw an ATG fighter at or near the top of his game just get totally smashed? A physical one-sided prolonged beatdown like that on an absolute top notch fighter?

Not really a great fight. Great fights tend to be competitive, but it was something to behold. Given the quality of fighter that was Barrera.

Understandable, when I see a boxer get a bad beating I just say they signed up for it.

From an fight network article after the fight: "Margarito was in the hospital for many months after his loss to Manny Pacquiao. He suffered a broken nose, a broken orbital bone, multiple cheek fractures, a hairline jaw fracture and severe damage to his left eye. "

Absolutely nuts why that fight wasn't stopped.

Who can forget the saddest of them all... Ali vs Holmes. The closest to tears I've ever been watching a fight and that's with already knowing the outcome. Larry Holmes went easy on him my ass!

I can't deal with watching it again. The way I remember it, Owen was doing well for awhile, but somewhere around the middle of the fight, everything shifted towards Pintor's favor and it just got worse and worse and worse. A normal fighter would have not lasted as long, but Owen's freakish ability to absorb punishment and keep fighting was his undoing.

Perhaps we should list all the fights where one boxer died. RIP

Resto-Collins is bizarre and hideous to watch.
