Frampton's physique and conditioning are 1 of 3 reasons he is a world champ, other 2 being skill and chin in my opinion. They say if it isn't broke... don't fix it. The debate really is whether it is broke or not. Personally I think Texas was a bad location for a number of reason let alone the heat and the atmosphere and change to the body clock. However now that he has done Texas the east coast should be slightly easier. Legs are more important than arms so if that theory of McCauley were true it's Frampton's chest muscles and biceps which would be most significant. personally think he should give 122 another chance with a more familiar routine and that way he will no for sure.
I made a similar point a few days back. He has a muscular chest so perhaps there's scope to lose some of that, if weight is an issue. Very little punching power comes from the chest!
Good point on Shane and he isn't exactly doing a bad job on Conrad Cummings either. Love how he goes through the sacrifice with his fighters himself physically. That is one way to gain their respect, also seems to have a tactical mind-set to the game.
What am i hearing about Billy Joes rant against women boxers??? Classic!! This is clearly a PR stunt to inject some life into the Limerick promotion. I was only saying how drab and watery the Press Conference was etc and how the 2 lads were obviously under instructions to tone it down so as not to inflame things -given their backgrounds and the situation in Limerick etc. Then Billy Joe comes out with this classic pot-stirrer!!! Totally not PC but Brilliant PR stunt though) (I reckon it was Wazzers idea - he has voiced his distaste of women boxers in the past) Mna na hEireann will be out for his blood for sure now!
I see Kid Galahad is deffo banned now. With Quigg possibly fighting Donnaire, LSC tied up with Mares, (and those fights could lead to rematches - further tying those guys up into the future) Frampton does'nt have too many options for Big Fights at 122. If a deal cant be done with Quigg then maybe the trip to Texas wont have been a waste of time after all. Maybe a new angle for him could be to market himself as a "Mexican-basher", given that he has beaten a few of their men, and wrangle a big fight that way? The winner of LSC-Mares? Lots of talk about Frampton tapping into the Irish-American market - but lets not forget the huge Latino market. They love good boxers in the lighter divisions.
yeah my missus is wanting to the guns out again and taking a trip to limerick:iak aside from that bjs looked good 2nite but a bit heavy around the midriff :good
frampton and quigg edges closer Following last Saturday's successful world title defence in El Paso against Mexican Alejandro Gonzalez Jr, in which Frampton was knocked down twice in the first round, there was talk from the fighter and his manager Barry McGuigan about a possible move up to featherweight. Frampton, though, says he intends to stick to super-bantamweight for the moment which sets up the prospect of the fight everyone wants to see against Quigg, who knocked out Spaniard Kiko Martinez in two rounds last weekend. Frampton said: "I'm happy to fight him in his own backyard, but we just need to remember who's the boss when it comes to negotiating." On the weight issue, Frampton, stated: "I'm a career super-bantamweight if I want to be. I just misjudged things a little bit. I can make 8st 10lbs again if I have to. It's a hard slog to do it, but I've done it so many times before." :good
Phew...Good to hear Carl won't apparently be forced up to feather by weight issues. That was a big worry. Now let's get the quigg fight on!
Anyone (who isn't lencoreastside) have any new info on John Joe Nevin? Its been nearly 8 months and no fight and im fearing that he may pack it in soon? Such a waste of talent if it were to happen.
anyone going to the Féile an Phobail boxing night in the Falls Park this Saturday night... at £20 and £30 a pop....its not to be sneezed at...if this event is successful ...it could become a regular feature at the Féile ...so its up to the boxing fans:deal.... Féile an Phobail was set up by bad aul Sinn Fein in an attempt to steer the nationalist youth of west Belfast away from the culture of bonfires and rioting which commemorated the illegal imprisonment without trial of republicans... known as internment ... the event is now a worldwide recognised community festival which attracts acts from many countries and is an example of the good news coming out of belfast in contrast to the ugly bigoted orange parades our society has to endure every 12th of July and the lead up to that day... i hope the irish boxing fans who visit this thread can make it... mccarthy and Sutcliff have testing fights in what will be a great night of boxing:good:good
At the time of his last court appearance he did have outstanding charges against him. Dunno if they have reached court yet. Virtually any conviction will bar him from USA where he was based for boxing. If he hasn't sorted himself out by next year he may cast a shadow over our Olympic boxers in Rio. Waster. He could end up watching Conlon... Katie etc on TV in Rio from the recreation hall in some prison. Idiot. When I think of all the funding he's got over the years.... Was only thinking about him watching billy joe Saunders box so out of shape the other day. Traveller boxers just don't seem to have any discipline at all...ward..bjs etc ...all the talent in the world but no discipline.
And he deserved every penny of it considering all the medals he won for us. As an amateur, John Joe was a dedicated, consistent athlete, end of story. He's given enough for his country. Honestly, I just knew you'd come out with more ignorant **** anyways. Terrible, terrible poster.
our boxers deserve there funding more than all the other athletes in the country because there actually very successful John Joe Nevin is our most decorated amateur ever, that make him imo the most deserving of all the funding his received and the one whos given the most bang for our buck
