I think it is. The pace of round that a prime Tyson could bring Lewis could never cope with. Lewis was expert at slowing the pace of a round but he would not cope with Tyson heat. He just would not. And that's crucial. McCall had him breathless and Rahman did too. That's when he made mistakes if you forced him to work that little bit more each round.
A taller Heavier man has the advantage, yes. But those advantages are not overwhelming by themselves, if they were Nikolai Valuev would have beaten everyone. Marciano was much better than Tua skill wise, and had a terrific overhand right. He has a great chin, and does not stop swinging. How would Lennox keep Rocky from closing and making it an inside fight? The only thing I think that will hurt rocky is Lennox's uppercuts. That is why I wont favor Rocky, but if he can negate them, Lennox is in for a long night.
By jabbing, stepping back and circling, holding and leaning on Rocky when (if) necessary. Things that fighters now understand as the basics to dealing with smaller, aggressive fighters. Bigger question is how does Rocky get himself in position to land hard shots inside?
Lewis no contest... Too big, and skilled. Marciano doesn't stand a chance. He wouldn't even be able to get inside... And even if he did Lewis would manhandle him.
He marches forward just like Tua, Lennox is adept at clinching and maneuver. But if rocky can land some shots inside first, and a few more than Lennox before he clinches, Rocky can do some damage. I think Marciano's crouch will be a little more effective than Tuas Head movement and it will allow him to close easier, Marciano is also taller than Tua. His short arms would make him more effective in clinches as well. Marcaino has some things that could make him effective against Lewis. I wont favor him, but it is not unlikely Lennox gets careless and frustrated at some point and Marciano capitalizes.
They certainly seem to understand it better than some of the clumsy stiffs of the past. Main point is that Lewis and his trainers aren't going to lose much sleep worrying about how to devise new, ingenuous methods to keep small, slow, crouching Marciano and his stubbby arms off of him.
Only the very lame feel that today's fighters have learned anything new. Boxing abilities have regressed not progressed over the last 20-30 years. Problem we have is the with so many top 10 challengers skills have been watered down. What used to be a stumblebum is now a top contender. Good champions are not challenged so skills if they were present to begin with erode. Worst I have ever seen at the hwt division.
I know that, I was saying that he would have had more of a Tyson like physique and a lot heavier than he was during his career at 190. He would have had improved strength, power, and speed.
What are you really saying? You don't honestly believe that the "big heavies" of Dempsey and Marciano's eras knew everything that Lewis did, do you? Or that they had comparable skills? Or that guys who were stumblebums in their eras would be heavyweight champions today?
Marciano was at his optimum weight adding poundage would decrease his effectiveness ,not increase it. Straws graspingatsch
How many rounds did Tua win? Tua fought just to survive after sampling couple of right hands and he had a great chin. Marciano would have been on his ****. You say prime Tyson would have beaten Lewis that does not make it a fact.I say Tyson would have stopped Marciano.
Easy Marciano win as Lewis dies of laughter when he meets the ridiculous small and weak man at the first press conference.
