There was just over a year between those fights [14months]during that time Moore had 11 bouts and won them all.He scaled a 1/4lb less for Patterson than he did for Marciano.
I don't see any evidence of decline in between the fights do you?

Archie was extremely active but the results he recorded were basically world level and good so I would have to say yes. Patterson was a great fighter and he beat the top man. Archie was favorite too.

Patterson was red hot then. However, there was some kind of case going on against Moore. I think I read one time that it was a mother and daughter **** charge, it was eventually thrown out but he had that going on at the time. Even so, Patterson was good enough to do what he did to Archie in anyway. Floyd was the new guy.

Only a slightly lesser Version than the one Rocky fought.

A little older, a little slower, A little more ring worn. But still a great.

the type of beating that Archie took off Marciano is very hard to recover. This was not a one punch fight like the Rex Layne fight or a Tate Weaver KO that effects a fighters mind, the beat-down fights are physically and mentally bruising and very hard to bounce back from.

Moore was dropped many times in that fight and battered against the ropes and hit to the body and head numerous times and while he did manage to go to 38-4 fighting Ali 9 years later I would have to say he was never the same after the Marciano beating, he fought a different style and used his wits more than his brawn. Fresh war-less youngster Patterson caught the semi-recovering Archie with his lightning left hook and that's all she wrote but remember he went through the Marciano grinder the year before and no one came out of WAR with Marciano the better

You're probably right, but I'm sure the Marciano fanatics want to believe otherwise.

What bugs you Suze is the idea that Floyd turned the trick a lot quicker and easier than Rocky did. Therefore to rationalise it to yourself you have to say Moore was diminished even though he went 11-0 after that fight.

    Quicker yes. Easier? No way

What bugs me is Dempsey not fighting wills and greb

Moore went 11-0 against non top 10 opposition.

I'm not worried at all. History proves Marciano had a consistent history of ruining fighters.

You know what it wouldn't matter Patterson was great that night maybe his best performance. Patterson was a top 20 heavyweight of all time no shame he would beat most in history

Patterson had too weak of a jaw to last more than 8 rounds with Marciano though.

Marciano floored Moore 4 times, won 6 of the first 8 rounds and put on a good defensive display making Moore miss repeatedly...what more do you want? Patterson knocked him out 4 rounds sooner, lf that's your criteria for easier then yes Patterson wins

He also fought Moore 1.5 years after Marciano gave him that terrible
beating. This element must factor into your opinion

Marciano beat Moore by relentlessly grinding him down. Moore did well early, flooring Marciano for a 4 count in the second round Marciano said he blacked out momentarily .
After three rounds Marciano was bleeding from the nose and had bruising under the left eye. After 5rds Marciano was bleeding from a cut under the left eye and blood was flowing from his nose, he was also bruised above the left eye. Moore's legs went on him in the 6th round and it was then only a matter of time before Marciano ground him down. The descriptions of the ringside reporters refer to Marciano's ,"relentless bulldozing attack," his "meat -grinding", Moore," being ground down by a relentless assault "," Moore's aging legs betraying him" "Moore's 19 years of fighting catching up with him". As I say Marciano was a grinder.

Patterson took out Moore with a surgically clean left hook.he sustained no facial damage and was not floored during their brief fight. In conclusion Floyd had a much easier time with Moore than did Marciano did..

Bottom line, judging Moore on his results 11 fights, 11 wins, and footage between those fights there was no discernable decline.

No, because they fought him on separate dates.

Looking at Moore's record between those fights ,11 -0 do you detect any evidence of decline?
It's interesting that Joe Louis has exactly the same time frame between his fight with Mauriello and the first Walcott fight, yet Suzie is adamant that Louis was exactly the same for both fights.:huh
