    Vlad

Vit has Sanders on his scalp as the only main guy that is ahead of Vlad.

Vlad has Sasha, Haye, Pulev and a slew of others at a slightly higher level then Vitali.

    Wlad by a country mile:deal

Wlad will be a HOF, Vitali probably not..

Wlad had the better all around career and it's not even Debatable ..

Wlad would have beaten him if they would have ever fought, best for best..

Wlad is everything Vitali always probably wanted to be, maybe that's why Vitali always seems like he's scowling and angry, and Wlad is more outgoing and has a i don't give a f@ck, happy go lucky attitude..

Wladimir the better overall record, more solid wins. But H2H I will take Vitali.

Wlad beat better competition, however if you use common opponents ( as you did in Burns vs. Ketchel ) , Vitali was far more impressive vs. Peter, Sanders and Purity.

Head to head Vitali is better.

Wlad’s has amazing longevity. If Vitali had not taken four years off, or had Haye or Valuev not backed out of fights to meet him, Vitlai’s resume would be much better.

I recommend watching the Klitschko documentary. You’ll gain rare insight to their old coaches, family, and background.

I watched it. Vitali tried to make Wlad quit in 2004. Wlad mental toughness and adversity allowed him to tell Vitali to F off and he pushed through and paved his own path to greatness

Vitali never became great, Wlad did

Funny for common opponents you leave out Chris Byrd whom Wlad destroyed twice and Vitali lost too

Also how did Vitali do better vs Sam peter? Vitali won by corner retirement against a fat 255lb Sam peter. Wlad knocked out cold a trim 241lb Sam Peter. Yes Wlad struggled with Peter in 05, but Wlad hadn't fully developed into the head to head monster he became in 2010. Wlad defense improved a lot from 2005 to 2010

Vitali completely demolished Peter after iirc a 4 year layoff. I think the way he handled him was way better than how Wlad did.

Look, without doubt Wlad's resume is better - he is, as you say, great whereas Vitali not so much.

But if you compare them fighting you can see how Vitali would be a nightmare for Wlad to fight. Actually, it would be nasty for Vitali too, but he is able to constitutionally handle punishment whereas Wlad not really. Most likely outcome H2H is a Vitali win after a gruelling match in my opinion.

Wlad's wins over Byrd and Povetkin are probably the only thing that sets them apart for me and even then its a marginal difference at that. Aside from that they both pretty much beat the same level of opposition with Wlad just beating a longer list of similar types of men.. kinda like Holmes and Tyson when their careers are compared together. Vitali's wins over Corrie Sanders, Ross Purity, Sam Peter, Kirk Johnson, Danny Williams, Tomasz Adamek, Chris Arreola, Herbie Hide, etc, aren't much different than Wlad's wins over Calvin Brock, Eddie Chambers, David Haye, Kubrat Pulev, Bryant Jennings, Ruslan Chagaev, Sultan Ibragimov,etc.. The thing that makes the latter list seem more prestigious in most people's eyes is that in Wlad's case the stakes were higher at times such as lineage being on the line, but that doesn't change quality. There were also some opponents like David Haye who never did Jack at heavyweight and who was a hype job yet Wlad gets the kinda credit for beating him that Ali did for defeating Joe Frazier.. Wlad is deservedly ranked much higher on most people's all time list of heavyweights ( mine included ) but for reasons that shouldn't have anything to do with either of their head to head abilities. I actually think that if they were to fight prime for prime, most fans and experts would make Vitali the favorite despite their ratings being leagues apart.

The Byrd fight is a fluke, and cannot be used as a fair gauge due to the injury. Its like a tennis match with one person up 2 sets to 0, and leading in the 3rd who had to retire due to an injury.

The doc was a good one. I list a few sample quotes, which I hope are 100% correct

" Vitali was born a fighter, I had to become one " - Wlad

Amateur boxing coach:" Vitali was a piece of iron. Wlad was more like clay. Easier to mold, but he wore down quicker "

Vitali's wife. " When Vitali wants to do something, he does it. Wlad is more diplomatic "

    These quotes are excellent.

Vilali's performance vs Peter was better than either of Wlad's. Even Wlad himself said Vitali did better vs. Peter as he finished Peter sooner.

Put is this way, Vitali engages his man and seldom clinches. Wlad, because he is not as durable or tough uses other means when needed and is more technical when his man is not hurt.

I'm a big fan of Wlad, but he's not very durable or tough. He'll even admit this. He has all time skills, size, experience, defense, power, you name it, just not a good chin. Wlad fights the way he does because he knows his weakness. On the way up, Wlad was a two fisted destroyer! Then he lost, and made adjustments. That is the truth.

Universum who had them both always said Vitali was the better fighter, and so by the way does Chris Byrd.
