Is Fernado Vargas the only boxer who was completely shot at age 28?

    Vargas was a much better fighter at 21 then 28, by the age of 28 he was stiff board and slower then YOUR mother. Name another fighter who was shot to shyt by the age of 28? (reference) watch the Mayorga fight, then watch Vargas vs Quartey.

    Nope Zab was shot after the Cotto fight. I think he was 27 then.

    Not really, Judah has never had stamina and after the Tszyu fight, he was scared about being hit.

    Being shot doesn't mean because you lost a fight, it means when your skills aren't the same. Vargas was completely different at 28 then he was 22.

    Though I wouldnt say shot, Mike Tyson comes to mind. His skill set had totally eroded compared to him at his best.

    No it didn't..he just ran out of bums to fight, Tyson looks GREAT against bums and medicore against LIVE fighters (Holyfield Lewis). Tyson was a harder puncher when he got older, he just had less movement because he was heavier.

    Less head movement, less combination punching, less speed, less desire. This isnt because he was heavier because his weight didnt dramatically rise to very late in his career when everyone knew he wasnt the same fighter. All these things were evident as early as the Douglas fight.

    Meldrick Taylor actually performed much better than expected in the Chavez rematch at age 28 (or maybe 27), but still, he had declined significantly and his punch resistance was noticably diminished. Pretty much everyone was calling him shot 2 years earlier when he was dominated by Cristano Espana. Espana was a terrible matchup for him anyway, but no doubt Taylor looked terrible and had declined a lot. Even Lou Duva afterwards said he'd never work with Taylor again and that he wouldn't put Taylor in there "with a 4 rounder".

    One of the reasons vargas became slower n stiff was he suffered from a bulged L5 disc in his back, that as im sure most of you can imagine would be hell to train and fight with. Also the damage he took, combined with his lifestyle outside the ring, and it all was the perfect storm for an early career.

    As for your question, ill have to think a bit more on some fighters that were truly shot in their 20's.
