On a par Louis has 12 one round kos ,Dempsey 18 that we know about. Dempsey was more ferocious ,Louis more clinical.

Dempsey needs more of this. He deserves more of this.

Compring the Dempsey that fought Tunney is like comparing the Louis that fought Marciano. Give me a break.

That is true, but how can we tell how many 1 round KO,s Joe Louis might have had if he'd been allowed to stand over opponents and hit them as soon as their trailing knee was off the canvas?

Just asking, not criticising either way. In fact it seems pretty stupid to me, comparing 2 guys who would never let a guy off the hook if possible.

Prime Louis was down against ,Braddock Galento, Baer, If they had been allowed to stand over him ,maybe they might have kept him down?
As you say both could hit like trucks, its splitting hairs.

Dempsey got to stand over his fallen opponents it's a joke so much easier to finish people

I think the same. Both were great finishers, Louis more measured and Dempsey more willing to gamble. I can't split them.

Louis was like walking into quicksand without realizing it.

Trying to get out of trouble with Dempsey was like trying to empty the tub without being able to turn off the faucet.

It's easy Louis was better. Much better. Most fans and experts would agree with that history will always remember Joe was
    As much better
