Personally I am shocked that Mayweather chose to fight this way, and the only way I can rationalize it is that his skills have diminished to the point where he felt he couldn't take any risks at all. This wasn't the same guy who met Castillo head on with counters, or boxed Corrales' ears off without even the hint of needing a clinch.
Well I could have used more recent examples, but those were his last true superfights imo (DLH was semiretired). To put it more simply, I did not anticipate Floyd going from a beautiful boxer to a holding spoiler and it's sad that it's happened.
