As far as I know, it is NOT allowed to duck punches setting your head under your opponents belt line. Why referees dont give a damn about it? Why they never take any point for it? It really gets on my nerves all those boxers that abuse those movements, I simply cannot stand it. For instance sweet pea used to duck even under his opponent's knees! wtf is this shi....?

Am I wrong and you can do it nonstop in the pros? if not, f... the referees.

Ok, at least I know now that I was wrong. Because I couldnt understand this behaviour from the referees.

Nevertheless, unless they allow rabit-punches (never should them be allowed ffs) it should be forbidden. Imho, it is even worse than clinching, theres no possible way to hit under you belt/knees with power unless you rabit-puch. For me it looks like so much cheating. Just my opinion.

Launch the uppercutts! Smash them in their face down position!

You cannot launch a powerfull uppercut under your belt. And usually they go slightly to left/right side too, what makes it even worse.

Doesn't need to be that powerful to catch them on an exposed nose and do enough damage to make them realise they aren't totally safe...or swing it from the knees...they'll never see it coming >_>

Maybe not an uppercut, but nutsac to the chin should persuade them to halt.

That's exactly what I mean. They hide the front part of their bodies (the only place you can hit) so that you can do nothing but rabit-punching. It's the same as if they turn back, you cannot hit them, but turning back is highly forbidden and punished by the referees.

I was reading the WBC, WBA, and WBO rules recently. I saw a no ducking under the belt line rule in one of them. I figure if someone does it, their opponent should be allowed to rabbit punch them in the back of the head. Sort of like I figure if you clinch a lot, your opponent should get away with holding and hitting.

You guys act like this was invented yesterday ... but it wasn't.

There are plenty of examples out there of how to handle an opponent who ducks his head low:

Watch Muhammad Ali against Archie Moore -- uppercuts and throwing short, arcing punches from either side that land on the sides of the head. If you want to say that's just Ali being young against an old Moore, fair enough, but look at other fights where people had success against Moore, who dipped low more often than anyone you'll probably ever see.

Look at Whitaker against Azumah Nelson, who comes in with his head low. As noted, Sweet Pea could get low, too, and what he does is bend his knees and fights short so he's on the same level with Nelson.

Or how about Holyfield against Qawi, Sugar Ray Robinson against LaMotta, the masterclass performance of Joe Walcott against Marciano in their first fight (before Rock landed the bomb), or Foreman against Frazier.

It's all about changing your punching axis and timing -- no one ever fights with their head below the belt 100 percent of the time, round after round ... what goes down must come up, so the opponent needs to position himself to time his shots when the "ducker" brings his head back up, because then he's vulnerable.

Every opponent's style presents a challenge. The problem is today's fighters tend to want to rely on athleticism rather than skill ... if you look at how all-time greats handled opponents who came in low, you can learn the skills necessary to deal with it.

It's like complaining about "running" -- which is lateral movement -- rather than learning how to cut off the ring, or complaining about clinching when the guy getting "clinched" constantly throws one of his hands in the space between the other guy's arm and his torso ... allowing himself to be tied up, rather than keeping his own arms and gloves tight so he's hard to grab -- when you put your arm inside the other guy's elbow, it's impossible for him not to clinch you unless you throw your arms up in the air and leave yourself vulnerable.

The job of Boxer A is not to cooperate with Boxer B and make his night easier. It's up to Boxer B to solve the puzzle.

If your knowledge of boxing is such that you can't see a way to hit a guy ducking low without rabbit punching him, or your imagination is so limited that you can't find a way to deal with a tactic, you should watch the masters and learn the marvels of the Sweet Science.

I think some Maidana style launch a knee up the middle should be allowed when someone ducks low like that. :yep
Try ducking low on the street like that and see what happens...
