Dempsey is outsped the first few rounds. Dempsey, one of Boxings greatest hitters finally connects in round six and the bout is over. Dempsey just hits too hard. It's very different sparring with the big gloves in training vs 5 oz fight gloves. Punches Greb took sparring with Dempsey could very well be crippling with small gloves in a real bout.

    Greb makes it look easy.

And that's the problem with Greb vs threads. All you can say is that he's a great swarmer with a chin and stamina. But there's a world of difference between that and actually seeing him fight.

By all accounts he gave anybody even near his weightclass a war, not to mention his famous sparring session with Dempsey, so I think it fair to say that in an actual fight Dempsey would not have it easy. Who would win is difficult to say even with footage, nevermind going just by news reports.

Actually, nevermind Greb vs Dempsey. I'm thinking Greb vs Marciano would be more fun :D Talk about an all-action bout.

Do you think that Greb would win a finish fight with Dempsey?

Make the thread personally I think greb has a slightly better chance over ten rounds of beating Marciano than he does Dempsey . In fact over the ten round distance I think greb has a good chance of winning a decision over Marciano

I guess if it was a title fight, then Dempsey would insist on the smallest ring possible, and other terms likely to facilitate his success.

Greb would make him look bad for a while, but eventually Dempsey would catch up, and find a way to close the fight.

If neither man holds the keys to the castle, it might be a different deal.

Greb has three votes to start with, Klompton's,Seamus's ,and yours!
Why didn't you make it 4 rounds to load the dice a bit more?

Tunney Dempsey was 10 rounds what's the big deal?

Had Tunney Dempsey been 15 rounds Dempsey would have been knocked out

Which Demspey? I think he would beat the middleweight one pretty clear on points, maybe get countered out of a few rounds?
