    Tunney vs Marciano

    15 rounds

I'm gonna catch flak here but I honestly fancy Tunney to get the win

Marciano knocks out Tunney. St Paul's style was tailor made for Marciano to beat. Low hands leaning back, recipe for a Marciano left hook out of his crouch. Tunney had fast hands great movement and high ring IQ, his chin was good but untested. The only heavyweight puncher he fought, put him on the floor for arguably 14 seconds. He drew the color line and ducked George Godfrey. Tunney lost a close series to a swarming 165lb Greb. He beat Dempsey twice, but Dempsey was coming off a 3 year layoff and couldn't throw more than 40 punches a round.

Tunney would have his moments and be ahead on points but Marciano gets to him.

Tunney has always been slightly overrated in head to head matchups at heavyweight for someone with only 7 career fights in the weight class. How can you possibly pick him over heavyweight greats with that thin of a resume?

I never understand why these white heavyweight greats from the 20s who drew the color line get so much respect in head to head Matchups.

Tunney was the best pure boxer ever to hold the championship. I pick him to beat Rocky by decision in 15 hard rounds. Tunney was always in amazing condition for his bouts. Don't see him fading during the later stages of the bout.

Best pure boxer? Based on what?

And what did he accomplish at heavyweight to pick him over a top ten heavyweight great?

Great fight, But I expect rocky to began to slow him down.

If you began to slow against Rocky , he would catch you.

    or

Tunney is one of the greatest trainers, and Boxers there is, He did not slow against Dempsey, and he weathered the storm from him and closed the deal on those 2 fights.

Dempsy, explosive and as fast as he was, never caught Tunney more than once, I would expect Tunney to weather a few close calls against Marciano, but win in a boxing exhibition for the ages.

But, Only by the slimmest of margins.. Marcaino was just unreal. I have no confidence in this prediction, and would never bet money on this fight.

Marciano would put on too much pressure, a pressure that Dempsey did not have the legs for and the power that Greb never had...Tunney gives Marciano a run run for his money but Marciano catches him and finishes him.

I'm a huge Marciano fan, but I'll take Tunney in a UD.
Tunny is one the most underrated fighters in HW history.

Marciano would break him down if this is 15. A slower but much heavier handed and bigger Greb would not be to Tunney's liking.

    Very interesting fight.

Tunney had underrated power and could possibly shake up Rocky with the straight right. Tho, Rocky, in my opinion, would get to Tunney late.

Dempsey was a two fisted power house.

Did Dempsey tire in their match, or was Tunney just such a masterful boxer that The absolutely great Dempsey could not catch him?

Demspey did have Tunney down. Marcaino is a whole new game for Tunney.

If Greb could war with Tunney and just lose, is Rocky strong enough to win it?
