Umm... did or did not Al Berl say "You've got one more round or I have to stop it." as reported by the AP. I could see how this was post-fight myth building on Marciano's part. And in regards to the elbow causing the cut... I watched Luis Santana win two fights against Terry Norris. I watched Khan headbutt Barerra and win ON THAT CUT. **** happens. A cut can make all kinds of **** happen. Touché.
So a DQ was altered the very NEXT DAY to a KO win, after reviewing the fight. What is so strange about that? Who gives a toss whether Pugilato, or Ring Record changed their copy in time? This was in JCC's 12 th fight ffs. It isn't as if the thing was changed in retrospect to pad his record. I think this Marciano 49 - 0 nonsense in only important to Muricans in general and white ones in particular. It obviously means nothing in most of the world, particularly the Spanish speaking parts, otherwise why didn't Chavez turn it in at 50, 60, 70, 75, or even 80, and say " Fukkin beat that "?
Yeah, and I'd bet good money Chavez earned more in 50 fights than Marciano did, never mind the rest of them.
Wow, this is insightful.atsch Marciano has been matched with Dempsey and prime Louis no 30-40-50 pounds difference there.
Where's the evidence that the result was altered the very next day ? I doubt that was the case. More likely that's a cover story when reporters/record-keepers asked about the result a couple of years later. But if I'm wrong about that, even if it was the case that it was genuinely altered the next day, it's hardly valid since Chavez's manager is on the commission ! I think 49-0 means most to "Marciano HATERS", since they are the ones who usually bring it up, a classic strawman device.
McVey - it may not be particularly insightful but it's true nonetheless. My point is that I get a bit tired of some people who likely have never had the gloves on in their lives criticising a great fighter. I guess I was being a little cantankerous...I am sure you understand what that's like mate :good
