Tucker got countered every time he opened up, was put into a shell and fought to survive.

Smith was terrified and was called "Boneclutcher" after the fight because he clinched and clinched and clinched to survive.

There is a good chance that if both guys tried to win not just the mindset of lasting the distance that the dececions would be even more loop sided and most likely Smith would have gotten KO'ed.

A washed up Tucker went the full distance in the next decade against a prime Lennox Lewis, years later.

What kind of a TKO you do not understand, VK was stopped because his face, mouth, lips, eyes, cheeks and god what else did not hold up under combat conditions, that is as clear as a pristine mountain lake, if the fight would have continued he would have been KO'ed because he could not see any more shots coming because he was blind on one side. The ref did him a career saving favor.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly with you about Lewis not respecting Vitali's power. Vitali did get Lewis' attention with a good right hand in the 2nd, but beyond that I do remember Lewis walking forward without much concern with what was coming back.

Nevertheless Vitali is a big man and has respectable power. It's not the power itself that is the problem, but that Vitali managed to find a way (usually) of establishing dominance with his jab and movement.
A bit like Wlad in that way, but without the horrible grabbing.
IF (big if) he does manage to tame Tyson with similar tactics then Tyson would be in trouble since he did tend to get frustrated and lose focus.
    My argument essentially is this:
Vitali may have the requisite combination of size, boxing ability and mental and physical toughness to withstand early fight pressure that Tyson is likely to bring.

If he can last out the first 6 or 7 rounds, his chances escalate dramatically. I am not arguing for a Vitali win as such, but I do think he has the right stuff to give Tyson problems. Maybe a lot of problems.

Vitali was nothing like those heartless fighters, he would fire back against Tyson. Remember the only time Smith opened up on Tyson he had him hurt in the final round.

Maybe just maybe because on the night he gave Tyson his ass kicking he too was also an old man....

Tyson lost a lot of his power when trying to land on bigger fighters unless he countered or caught them committing, Vitali is all wrong for Mike.

Tyson has never lost a fight where he was in control over the first half of the fight, so believing that VK is going to come on strong after taking a pounding is slim to none, He was not able to continue against Lewis either after he got beat to a pulp.

VK was not willing to walk Byrd down because he was afraid to get countered by the severely faster Byrd and settled for a boxing approach aka points win. He would try the same approach vs Tyson except Tyson would employ the Lewis strategy of jumping on him and out the window goes the boxing match. Rotator cuff injury or not Byrd did bring the fight to him and VK back peddled. Byrd had no problem landing in the second half and was never remotely close to being stopped in the first half. With all the toughness talk mentally or physically he sure did not show it against Byrd because he folded like a house of cards,

Tell that horse manure to a fella called Douglas, who beat him up, humiliated the freak and for good measure KHTFO. And the best part was Douglas had as much interest in fighting as people do in your posts, as evidenced by him turning up a 8 months later out of shape, taking an innocuous right hand and counting the millions quicker than the ref could count to ten, and going fishing for 6 years.

Oh, Douglas was aptly named alright, because he was the myth " Buster ":lol::lol::lol::lol:

Anyone seen that picture of the two of them together from way way back when Vitali was showing Mike around Kiev when he worked with tourism?

Yeah, Mike seemed tiny by comparison. But of course that was nothing new to Tyson, being smaller I mean.

But what it does illustrate was here is a guy Mike is going to have to break down to beat. And that's something he really didn't do---break opponents down. Actually, it's the other guy excels at that.

One just needs to look at how easily and frequently Byrd and Chisora beat Vitali's body.

Light hitter Chisora could have beaten Vitali if he had Tyson's power. He didn't need any of Mike's skill, speed and defence to run him around the ring in a close fight.

Vitali was shuting Byrd out till he quit??
    Not true.
Byrd began to win that fight from the 5/6th round onwards. Meaning Vitali only was able to beat Byrd for 5 rounds and in those rounds he never hurt him or came close to putting him away.

Ike proved how easy it was to dispatch Byrd.

Vitali was a straight shooter and those type of boxers feed into Tyson's strengths.
You ain't beating Tyson throwing only jabs and right crosses. I'll tell ya that for free.
    Angles beat straight lines.

Tucker and Bonecrusher have better wins on their record than Vitali.

Tucker old and way past his gave prime Lewis a far better fight than Vitali did when he faced the shot Lewis.

Old Tucker did better against Lewis than a prime Vitali. Explain how Vitali is better than Tucker?

    And who did Vitali beat?
