This is like a dream opportunity for Hughie Fury, if what he said in the past was true: that he wants to be the youngest champion and wants to be champions with Tyson, side by side. However, like most Brits, he was probably talking out of his ass.

Peter Fury is also another big mouth, why would he tweet this without talking with his fighter first? So now people will call Team Fury chicken$hit if their boy doesn't take the fight.

 

the parker offer is also odd. Parker is green but possibly a bigger puncher than Wilder himself and quicker.
possibly even more dangerous than Povetkin who he would earn much more to fight.

The WBC are well known for being "flexible" with their rankings.

Funnily Fujimoto (WBC #14 I think) is said to have agreed to be on stand by if Wilder can't find an opponent

 

The idea that Wilder's people should offer Povetkin the fight is ludicrous. I'm glad those making it don't manage me.

Here's the facts: Povetkin is the No. 1, mandatory contender. The WBC will instruct the two sides to go into negotiations in October, which means a purse bid happens no later than November.

If it goes to purse bid Wilder gets 70 percent of the money. And the Russians may throw $15m-$20m at this fight to make sure they outbid Haymon to bring it to Russia ... so Wilder could pocket between $10m-$14m simply by waiting for a bid.

It would be incompetent to make the fight before forcing the Russians to open their bankbooks.

You know what...all these calls are going out the same day Nobuhiro Ishida had his retirement ceremony...Wilder waiting for the Japanese Hearns to retire before offering himself to all and plenty...he was scared of getting the same treatment as Kirkland!

 

Do you know what Povetkin is willing to accept? Do you know what the offer to Wilder would be?

No you don't, you are guessing at numbers and assumed bids that might not be made, Povetkin might be very willing to travel to the U.S. to fight Wilder.

The team behind Povetkin might hang Wilder out to dry and when it comes to purse bids do not make the offer Wilder is/was expecting, you just can't be sure of that.

Team Wilder have apparently rang a list of names but Povetkin isn't on it, at least make an offer, even if Povetkin does not accept it, it's still an offer.

 

I completely agree if he faces Povetkin he should let Hrynov not sure of the spelling but basically the Russian promoters to go to a bid. What I'm saying is place a call to the WBC and to Povetkin's team and move up the negotiation period.

Remember Tommy Morrison turning down 8-11 million to fight Michael Bentt first? That's why you take the big payday. Anyway Fury is not top 15 so Wilder will be stripped if he fights him most likely.

Hughie's backers like to talk about how great he is, but a chance to prove it comes and all of a sudden, "He's just a wee lad, he only started shaving last week, he's barely out of diapers."

These offeres have to be media stiring the pot type's. They are fake.
It's not good business sense to fight propects outside the top 10 who have a chance to beat you.......WHEN YOU CAN MAKE MILLIONS FOR POVETKIN!!!!
These offers can't possibly be real or serious.
Now I do believe Wilder wants to fight better opponents than Haymon, and Wilder may be contacting them, but Haymon woud never let Wilder fight dangerous prospects for peanuts before a big fight.

What if Povetkins people don't make a huge offer and Povetkin is very willing to travel to the U.S. For the fight?

What if Povetkin is waiting for purse bids to flip it on Wilder?
