Biggest ""near misses" that would have been epically humiliating upsets.

Examples: old Evander Holyfield, stubbornly overstaying his welcome, nearly picked up a cringe-worthy stoppage loss to a guy he would've used to mop the canvas in his prime. Tank Williams hurt and was starting to pound the legend until he was bailed out with a fishy NC. The loss wouldn't have affected Holyfield's ATG standing but it still would be an eyesore on his record (same as, say, Pea getting TKO'ed by Carlos Bojorquez)

...or when Hasim Rahman came DANGEROUSLY close to being stopped on his feet doing a wobble dance when Zuri freaking Lawrence of all people laid a bomb on him.

 

2lb Forbes did bust ODLH's nose and gave him unexpected trouble as his tuneup for The World Awaits, but he was never really close to seeming like he could win, so that probably doesn't count.

Neither does Guerrero vs. Yordan, where the Ghost was lucky to escape what seemed to be developing into a beatdown with a NC...but there isn't the disparity in levels to qualify. It would've been an upset but not massive. Yordan turned out to be class.
