Nah. Marquez gets his ass beat about as much as Pac does in those fights. When you negate something you nullify it, he certainly did not make Pac's speed ineffective.
He didn't really do it though, he got his ass beat in that fight as well. He landed on Pac, but never overcame the speed difference as far as not getting hit himself. Like Pac never overcame Marquez's timing but was still able to land because of his speed and awkwardness.
yeah, i probly agree. pac got reckless. he could have just played it safe and went on to get another decision.
Well speed cant actually be negated - at least not in the way you are stating it. If you are fast then you are fast. There is nothing anyone can do to make you "not fast". Good Timing can level the playing field (i think negate is the wrong word) Khan is fast and he was fast right up until he got knocked out. You cant really negate speed but you can counter it with timing.
Cotto Pac would've been another great "recent" example if Cotto didn't have re**** for a trainer. As it stands you could only look to one round one where Cotto had Pac running into his fist at will, still an example but, a very short one.
How did he negate his speed though? He was getting hit, dropped and busted up in every one of their fights. He couldn't get out of the way because Pac was too fast. That's not negating it. He put Pac's lights out because Pac couldn't also get out of the way and got hit constantly as well. It was attrition, rather than negation. On the other hand, Mayweather is a master at negating fighter's best weapons. He doesn't brute force his way to victory. Not the same.
