Do you agree or disagree with Paulie? I say you can say the same for Ward. Hes cleared out the division, so it makes more sense to him to move up and fight Kovalev when GGG still has as cotto-canelo fight waiting for him as well.

Malignaggi has the story all wrong.
Golovkin is willing to move down to 154.
Floyd is supposed to be "the man" at 147 and 154.
    Why all the b!tching ?
No one is asking Mayweather to move anywhere, it's Golovkin who is willing to come down in weight.
That is, I believe, what he has offered to do.

Fighters can move up or down or stay in the same division, it's up to them, there's no right or wrong.

But champions at any given weight need to stop b!tching about men wanting to come to their weight class to challenge them.
if you're the champ at a divison you should be willing to fight whoever can weigh in at that weight.

RING magazine lists Floyd as champion at 154.
RING magazine lists Cotto as champion at 160.

Andre Ward isn't rated anywhere by RING magazine. He last fought at 172. He's not in the top 10 at 168 or 175.

Can't blame Golovkin for trying to talk his way into that match. He's certainly not the first. But Golovkin brings almost nothing to the table for Floyd. He's unproven, does not hold any truly noteworthy victories, and doesn't bring star drawing power to the table.

It's silly to think that Floyd would want to fight someone, dangerous as he might be, who's entirely unproven against elite opposition in any weight class.

Floyd is winding down his illustrious career, where as Golovkin is hoping to jump start his career past the point of facing mediocre commodities like Lemieux.

Once Ward fights a legitimate fighter at 168 I don't see why not. At the moment viewers haven't seen Ward in 2 years, people forgot about him.

It's entirely up to Golovkin who he fights, and at whatever weights they agree on.
Just the same as it's up to Mayweather.

But the point is, if a man is supposed to be "the man" at any recognized weight class, don't b!tch that it's not right for someone to want to fight you AT THAT WEIGHT.

Golovkin is ideal at 160, will Cotto fight him at 160 ?

    Where's Ward rated ?

He's fought Paul Smith at 172.
Two years ago he fought Edwin Rodriguez who couldn't even make weight.

Ward hasn't fought a genuine ranked 168er since 2011

    Fallacy of extended ****ogy.

Different circumstances at those times, where Floyd wasn't quite so near the end of the road. Beyond that, Alvarez was far more of a name then than Golovkin is now. And neither one of those guys were career middleweights.

Anyone who doesn't view Ward as one of the absolute best in the 168-175 range most likely has an agenda. Reasonable observers are quick to conclude that Ward's promotional issues (largely through fault of his own) are the sole reason that he was dropped from any and all rankings systems.

Ask Golovkin to ask Ward to ask Kovalev to fight Klitschko. Floyd is lineal 154 champ. Golovkin says he can and will make weight. Nothing wrong with trying to fight the biggest cash cow in the sport, and the supposed king of the division. Paulie is a hater's hater.

If Golovkin genuinely wanted Floyd at 154, shouldn't he have been, I don't know - competing at 154 instead of 160?

Funny how Ward's fans had zero issue with Dawson coming down to fight Ward and act like it was an amazing win yet GGG gets criticized for wanting both the lineal champ in his own division and also the guy considered the best in both of the next 2 divisions below AND he was willing to go down. I don't even respond to those d*ckheads anymore. Their stupidity knows no boundaries.
